So, this morning, I read Donald J. Trump's nasty, all-caps diatribe1. which served as his Memorial Day tribute. The thing is that he has no family members who were veterans of the U.S or any other military2.. To Trump, veterans are just losers who couldn't get out of serving3.. Trump, himself, avoided service in the Vietnam War era4., the time when I did my four years in the USAF. For him, military service is stupid. Why would anyone do that? he wonders.5.

The "nasty" and "diatribe" are such in MM's POV. MM sees facts he doesn't want to hear or be heard as "nasty".
2. Fred Trump Sr. (DJT's father) was 36 when PH was attacked, marginally military aged, if not age-exempt. His father was born in Germany, emigrated to Canada, and then emigrated to the US. During WW2, Fred Trump built housing in Norfolk, VA for naval personnel and shipyard workers.
Among DJT's brothers, Fred Trump Jr. was born in 1938, so no WW2 service.
Sometime in the 1950s he joined the Air National Guard. At some point between the mid 50s and mid 60s he became a pilot, possibly with some ANG training/service as such, and became an TWA pilot in 1966. His career as such was brief, due to his alcoholism. Robert Trump does not appear to have served in the military. So MM is incorrect, unless he does not consider ANG service to be military service.
3. Long debunked false claim.
4. False claim. At various times, DJT's draft status was a student deferment and a classification meaning he could be drafted in times of national emergency (due to his medically diagnosed heel bone spur).
5. In the real world, Trump is effusive in his respect for those who have served and are serving. How many DU members yelled "Baby-killer" and other epithets at US military members in times past (or recently/currently)? What are the odds some such revilings got posted on DU during Cindy Sheehan's tantrum (which her son would probably have rejected) near GWB's home?
