Good news!!!

am so excited. I live in Medford, OR red city in blue state and elections always go to the republicans.

Yesterday was an Election Day for school districts and libraries and every single dem that ran won!! That rarely happens here. None of them said R or D but everyone knew who was what. The two ladies for library that won were against banning books.

I guess people are finally tired of having crazy in their education.

Is there any truth to this?  We know how DUmmies lie

Quick DDG search shows Jackson County Oregon had a special election yesterday, but I'm not finding any results, or lists of what was on the ballot.

All for banning conservative books or Dr. Seuss books but not gay, homo, and tranny books.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Reminds me of old rsmithnumbers and his dogged pursuit of some obscure water district seat. I think he ended up settling up for squirting water up his own seat, as I recall.

^^ :lmao:  I'd forgotten about RSmithnumbers!  I saw this thread yesterday and it made me laugh.  An obscure election in an obscure town with non-partisan candidates and she rushes to the DUmp to post about it using three exclamation points.  Victory!  And Oh my God, the DUmp just ate it up.

Medford is, IIRC, the third largest city in OR, and it is less Prog-Krazy than Portland or Eugene. IMO, Librarian is a minor office (I don't think it's electable in many/most cities). School board is significant, for obvious reasons, and teachers' unions expend considerable $$$ to dominate school boards.

Rsmithnumbers is the guy who could not keep a job, and when he interviewed for a company valued in the hundreds of millions, he went around town to see what the company's reputation was. He said they "owed money all over town," which means he probably confused a corporation for a drug dealer. I wonder what happened to him what he actually died of and when. Real firebrand, that guy...bringing progressive ideas to his local municipal water district.

This webpage has statements from the candidates for am open school board seat, https://theashlandchronicle.com/ashland-school-board-candidates-for-position-1-ann-m-gaffney-jordan-rooklyn-by-david-runkel/ . The statement form Jordan Rooklyn, the winner, says pretty much nothing about national politics or Prog socio-political views. The Prog Dog didn't bark, possibly/probably due to not being present. Comparing Rooklyn's statement to that of loser Ann M. Gaffney's, what jumped out to me was that Rooklyn grew up locally, while Gaffney is a recent transplant (from New England).

The winner in this race, another open seat, Deltra Ferguson, https://theashlandchronicle.com/ashland-school-board-candidates-for-position-3-noelle-christensen-deltra-ferguson-susanne-mcgraw-by-david-runkel/ , appears to be generally liberal, but not a Prog firebrand. Her foci seem to be on dealing with budgetary issues and students' successes.

Incumbent Rebecca Dyson, who seems generally liberal, was reelected, i.e. no change, https://theashlandchronicle.com/ashland-school-board-candidates-for-position-4-rebecca-dyson-grant-jolliffe-and-alex-sol-by-david-runkel/ .

Maybe more to the DU OP's point here's the Top Issues page from the winner of the Medford school board position, Angela Zbikowski, https://www.azformsd.com/platform . She seem sort of middle of the road, but her issues summary is more conservative than liberal, IMO:

Schools should not be used to play politics with our kids. Education should be focused on core subjects, critical thinking skills, and preparing our kids for success in the real world.

At best, from a DU POV, I think Tree Lady is exaggerating Dem success, in school boards at least.

The Jackson County Library District Board races seem similarly partisanly exaggerated, https://rv-times.com/2025/05/20/local-races-results-from-contested-seats-in-the-may-20-special-election/ . The candidates for the positions focused on matters pertinent to the library system, not Prog ideology or Bogey-Trump.
