I cannot emphasize enough how ridiculous this sounds to any professional IT person. We know that it is absolutely impossible to do it right in that time. It's not an opinion. It cannot be done right without significant issues. Like won't work at all issues.
The Social Security system is written in COBOL and is likely one of the most complex systems in the world.

This is a nightmare scenario. These idiots destroy the Social Security system forever, which is the most likely outcome per people a lot smarter than me, will absolutely turn the country upside down and crush the US economy to dust. This will be France 1789 level stuff

And that lying DUmbass DUche is why it will be done. Of course Elon Musk has no experience in software and streamlining complex code systems into simple and efficient ones. What has been lacking is the will to do so under big donkey government and their contractors.

     Refactoring COBOL in the age of AI is about 100x as efficient as it was even 5 years ago, so I have no doubt it can be done and done well. Calling Musk incompetent when he's presided over several world-changing businesses that are built on code is quite the take. On the other hand, these are the same people who called Ben Carson an incompetent surgeon and a butcher.

     The thing that will make job hard is all the pasted-on bullshit added to the system to solve this or that, or to make sure that this Chicago Dem Machine guy got this much, and a Clinton crony always gets that much, and a ten thousandth of every penny that goes through gets rounded and put in Biden's Special Account.

     I hope they cross reference the new database with voter registrations to randomly forget checks to liberals.
