Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., are taking the "Fighting Oligarchy" rallies out West next week – and advising supporters to mask up to participate.

Five years after the COVID-19 pandemic, Fox News Digital can confirm that the RSVP for the events in Denver and Las Vegas includes guidance that "masks are advised for all attendees of this event."

A post shared by conservative podcaster Stephen L. Miller on Friday about the Denver event had many wondering why masks would be advised for an outdoor event in 2025.

Others speculated that the masks are a way to protect attendees' identities. Masks are a common practice to protect protesters' identities at large demonstrations, like the pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University this past year.

In Denver they may be using the McNichols Civic Center Building. The "Full Venue" capacity ( https://www.mcnicholsbuilding.com/private-events-rentals/capacity-and-rates ) is 2200. Trump rallies have more people unable to enter and milling around outside than that!

An outdoor rally at the Denver Civic Center Park could handle 10K-12K, but the story I saw mentioned the time at which doors opened, so I think the event will be indoors.

Now Sanders wants the Bernie Bros to follow suit. The New York Times reports that Sanders has urged progressives to run in elections as independents rather than Democrats, setting up a real split in a party that has already run aground with the electorate:

Mr. Sanders’s admonition came in an interview with The New York Times on the eve of a three-day, five-city swing through Western states alongside Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. He predicted that they would draw tens of thousands of people to rally against President Trump, Elon Musk and the influence of billionaires on the American government.

“One of the aspects of this tour is to try to rally people to get engaged in the political process and run as independents outside of the Democratic Party,” Mr. Sanders said in the interview on Wednesday. “There’s a lot of great leadership all over this country at the grass-roots level.
