Let me share a saying I used as a Union Rep.
Occasionally I would encounter a union member who would recite the reasons he (or she) would vote for Republicans.

I would end the discussion with this line, which seems appropriate to share here at DU.

"Democrats will sometimes disappoint us, but Republicans will not be satisfied until they destroy us."

I doubt you came up with that yourself

I'm guessing that recent decades of non-government unions' decline demonstrate that most American workers rejected that union lie.

I doubt that line has ever been uttered or written in any language at any time in human history until that asshole just made it up.

You really don’t have to worry about Republicans destroying you. You’re doing an excellent job all by yourself.

Was it "Don't work so hard you make the rest of look bad."?

Or

Was it "Don't worry you do a terrible job but we will protect you."?

Or

Was it "Give me 20% of your paycheck, NOW!"?

Or

Was it ....
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Sounds pretty cut and pasted from the Milton Freidman quote of the 1980s:
Quote
"Republicans see Democrats as wrong. Democrats see Republicans as evil. You can live with someone who is wrong; you must destroy the evil in your midst."

So once again we have the doctrine of Saul Alinsky putting in an appearance at the DUmp ( big surprise there...) "Always accused your opposition of that which you yourself are guilty of".
"Stand your ground. Don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here."
-- Capt. John Parker

"I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission"
-- Capt. Steve Rogers

"In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem, government IS the problem."
-- Ronaldus Magnus

Remind me, which party has worked for 10 or 15 years to destroy the jobs of union coal miners? And dismissed them with, "Let them learn to code"?

Which party devastated US auto companies by encouraging the UAW to treat the companies as if their managers had money-printing machines in their rectum? And through fuel economy regs that force US auto companies to sell large numbers of cars they cannot (thank you, UAW!) profitably build in the US?

I'm also pretty sure that the Dems' pet EPA's regs were destructive to US steel companies, though I don't remember the details.
