My MAGA neighbor invited me over to watch college football
I told him; "no, maybe in a couple of years, if we haven't become a fascist, police state hellscape, I might accept, but until then, it's best you stay on your side of the fence, and I'll stay on mine."

I must do the same in a week when I travel to NV/AZ with my liberal mom and step dad
to attend the Senior Olympics .

I will have to face my Evagelical Crispy "christian" Veteran
Uncle who thanked God for Trump's re election .

I will have to face my Cousins Daughters who are
1) 2 are pro choice maga voters
2) one has fallen prey to the evangelical crispy fried "christianity through her now
husband father of her children's effort to win her back by getting sober. While I'm
thankful for his sobriety seeing pics on facebook of their 5 yr old son shooting a gun
at a church retreat/function absolutely breaks my heart .

I love my Cousin I will always love my cousin as she is the closest thing I have to a sister .
After the election I had to process my RAGE at the fact that she raised Magats . I'm still
processing that.

I'm on my 116th day of Sobriety from booze (still smoke pot with rx) I stayed sober
through the the election . I'm thankful I'll be clear headed going to this family reuion.

My next door neighbor is a hard core lefty. He used to have me over for beers but stopped because every time he'd have a few beers and bring up lefty narratives I'd start citing evidence of why he's wrong. He's a lawyer so he'd always get really pissed off when I cited evidence to prove him wrong. LOL.

He gave me a ride somewhere in his car once as a favor and he didn't play it but I noticed that he had Lawrence O on his podcast player. That's when I knew for sure he was too far gone.

But, to his credit, he realizes that being a good neighbor is more important than political differences so we get along fine even though we're 180 degrees opposed when it comes to politics.

Is that the guy whose hands were both holding something, a cane and a Bible? I've just seen a news story headline about it. If there is a DU-thread about that, was any DU-Denizen honest enough to point out that his two hands were not free, and he doesn't have a third hand?

yup, that's the one. not to mention, he handed off the Bible to someone eventually, but it was his left hand. and since DUmmies likely never shake hands with anyone, they don't realize you cant shake someones right hand with your left, it leads to an awkward failure which is why it isn't done.

Yes, there are two threads over there about the senator's husband.  Everyone over there missed the very loud memo, all over the internet, about said husband using a cane due to a stroke.  Both threads filled with breathtaking ugliness and hate.
