Revolution

H2O Man

"Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change."
Malcolm X; "Malcolm X Speaks: Selected Speeches and Statements". Book edited by George Breitman, 1965.

"Only those who have already experienced a revolution within themselves can reach out effectively to help others."
Malcolm X

What better tradition could there possibly be than to study the teachings of Malcolm X on New Year's Eve? Is not wisdom superior and thus longer lasting than a ritual blubbery intoxication? Having experienced both in different phases of my life, I'm spending the last 24 hours of 2024 reading, and watching on youtube, some of Malcolm's speeches, and invite you to at least consider the above three quotes.

Perhaps, upon sober reflection, we can see how each one can be applied to us -- as Democrats and as human beings, as we approach 2025. In doing so, we might be able to identify how some issues can be channeled in either a sad or angry manner. The sad way is weak, its only power being divisive, while angry has the potential for unifying strength.

Discussions -- from one on one to internet forums -- have been largely sad since Election Day. Initially, that was fine, for our party's defeat was indeed a sad day for America. Yet when that sadness lingers, people tend to take comfort in blaming "others." Allowing one's inner Eeyore to exercise one's external locus of control removes responsibility from one's self, team, and political party.

If I were to post an essay blaming the loss of the election on short people, you would think, "What an asshole!" And rightly so. Same if I laid the blame on skinny people. Or pointed out the fact that more women voted against their self-interersts in two of the last three elections. Darn those short, skinny women anyhow. Now let's consider other groups: male or female, black, brown, red, yellow, or white. Rich or poor. Young or old. And on and on. The sad truth is that enough of from each variety voted for a sociopathic felon in 2016 and 2024 to send him to the White House.

I have seen some weak attempts to lay the blame for people's misery on others. It can only further divide people, at a time we need to throw off the chains of the weakness that only results in divisions. 2016 and 2024's loses document how the maga party takes aim at and exploits those weaknesses. This is not to suggest that there is not racism, sexism, age-ism, dollarism, etc in our society. There is, and since we know it is a problem, let's not inject it into our being.

Instead, let's get angry about the sources of those problems, rather than make them our own. Certainly, the racist and sexist votes went to the felon, but these alone could not, would not, and did not elect the felon either time. That fact alone provides evidence that we must learn the lessons of those defeats. And the answers are obvious -- and it is only a matter of if we are willing to learn, versus if we want to insist that we did everything perfectly in 2024, lay the blame exclusively on "others," and insist we repeat the tactics that resulted in bitter defeat.
In my mind, it is like building a house. The most important thing is the foundation. It is hard, dirty work, that requires one to be below the surface. People can't see you as they drive by. But that work allows for placing a solid house on the foundation. Years ago, when the county was building a place for a new "day treatment" center for the mental health clinic, I told the director of Community Services that because they skimped on the foundation, the ceiling would crack and leak in the first winter. She doubted me. It cracked and leaked.

A house with a weak foundation may be comfortable for those on the top floor, at least at first. But with a weak foundation, it will crack and leak, just as it did in 2016 and 2024.

Once again the DUmmie didn't make it interesting enough for me to read the entire screed so I just scanned through it.

Based on what I've seen, it looks like people have gotten angry. At the demonrat party.

I did read this...

Quote

I know that I'm probably in error for using the common sense definitions for "racist" and "sexist", but wouldn't the ones who voted for the kackling empty suit with no achievements only because she claimed to be black or female be just as racist and sexist as those who voted against her solely for those same reasons?

That's rich. The imbeciles who've been in charge of the levers of power for most of the last 16 years, minimum, now want a revolution...

"and invite you to at least consider the above three quotes."
You only included two quotes, genius.

Fun fact: Malcolm X was assassinated by Nation of Islam thugs, almost certainly acting under the orders of current NOI leader and militant racist/ anti- Semite nutcase Louis Farrakhan, because they felt he had "Betrayed" them by converting to mainstream Islam, speaking out against the NOI, and softening somewhat in his feelings towards white people. In other words, his killers almost certainly held political views similar to those of this DUmmy.

"What better tradition could there possibly be than to study the teachings of Malcolm X on New Year's Eve?"
What I did was a lot more fun than that: Watched 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' early on to kind of bring an end to the Christmas season for me and commemorate the passing of one of its primary voice actors a couple months ago, had a huge lunch/ early dinner with my gal and her family in which I supplied some homemade bread sticks that admittedly were rather burned on their undersides but the other people there didn't seem to mind, posted a new entry on my faith- and- pop- culture blog, a few hours later went with my gal to a party some friends were throwing, got to see the host's adorable two- year- old daughter for the first time in months (She loves Godzilla now, rather unusual for a two- year- old girl, but SO cute), had one drink and some snacks there, left after about an hour so we could get back to my gal's house before I got too tired, watched New Year's Rockin' Eve, I nodded off, but awoke just as the countdown started, gave my gal a New Year's kiss, toasted the new year with her and her family, watched some more of the music acts, then went to bed with the woman I love in my arms.
I'd say all THAT's a New Year's Eve worth remembering.

So they want to start a Revolution? I say we give them what they want. They might want to look at the history of the victors of said Revolutions and what they did afterwards. A lot of them were worse than the people they replaced.

Water boy (H2O Man) has long been one of the pompous and insufferable windbags at the DUmp. The modern day aspiring Wee Willie Pitt of sorts, although the water boy was still around when that bourbon addled guy was still alive. Sort of a NanceGreggs, Kentucky, or PCIntern style in their writing style.

In other words, one of those DUmmies where I need either eye-drops or a shot of whiskey to even read their insipid blather.
