I stumbled upon a conversation whereupon I heard, "California is being ruined by all those shoplifters with no respect for the law."
Well, stores and restaurants in several major cities have closed due to shoplifters and thuglings assaulting customers and employees. So there is a lot of truth to the hyperbole/stereotype.

DUmmie kairos12 does not understand supermarket chains'
stock-turn-around business model or economies of scale (ECON101-grade information), unsurprisingly.
... hospitals that upcharge $100 for a 3 cent bandaid ...
I'm pretty sure that the costs for ordering, stocking, and dispensing that "3 cent bandaid" are far greater than $0.03 each. More ECON101-grade information of which
DUmmie kairos12 is ignorant or is dishonestly ignoring.
... gas companies that use a trashcan fire to say "the refinery is down" to raise your gas prices ...
As Evidence-free claims go, that one is stupid. Maybe if the Enviros and NIMBYs would get off refinery companies' @$$ and let them expand existing refineries, let them build new refineries, and end the boutique-fuel-blend scam gas prices would be less sensitive to refinery maintenance. Rolling back gas taxes in high-tax states like California would do nice things to gasoline prices, too.
From my comments I could see the sand had been thrown into their gearbox.
