Maybe too many Americans are dumb.
By "dumb," I mean too lazy to do the hard work required to read, reflect, and learn. Dumb people don't bother with that. They "do their own research" by watching videos on TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook. They watch 30 seconds, get reinforced in their opinion, and walk away with their minds closed to anything different. That's dumb.

People can be educated but still dumb. Dumb is encouraging your students to vote against Harris to "teach the Democrats a lesson" about US policy in the Middle East - thus allowing Trump to be elected and enact a far worse policy. That's dumb.

Lots of people in the news media are dumb. They ignore thousands of outrageous things Trump says and does, then hone in on Biden when he stumbles over a word. False equivalence is a dumb approach to reporting the news. It's not news, it's just shoveling lies around. It's also pretty easy ro see through, if you bother to tear yourself away from Fox News for a couple minutes. Not noticing the false equivalence is dumb.

When I was growing up, I knew lots of smart people. They weren't all educated, but they were smart. They ran farms and small businesses. They read and reflected on things. They argued over Nixon v Humphrey, but they were arguments about policy. Very few people liked Wallace. He didn't get the nomination. Nixon won and that was a mistake, but it wasn't a totally dumb mistake. People had reasons to choose Nixon. I didn't agree with them, but they weren't dumb in the way that voting for Trump is totally, utterly irredeemably dumb.

I'm sure I'll be called an elitest for calling Americans dumb. I'm out of ****s to give about that. I'm supposed to believe that Trump won because Kamala Harris invited Oprah to the convention?

Picking a hateful, doddering fool who bellowed lies and promised to destroy our country's government, because of the price of eggs? That's dumb.

I understand that people are frustrated and tired. But the people I know who helped elect Trump are not poor. They're not exhausted. They're just dumb.

1. The lack of self-reflection in this reality-inverting post is monumental.

2. The longer the Dems and other Progs denigrate Americans as Deplorables and Garbage the more they alienate American voters. Not a few Clinton, Biden, and Harris voters know that their neighbors "John" and "Mary" (and Juan and Maria ... and ...) voted for Trump and are not Deplorable, not Garbage, and not Nazis/racists/antisemitic/misogynist/everything-evil-ist. At some point - maybe in 2024? - the difference between Dem Party hysteria and neighbor- and coworker-reality will affect Dem-voters ability to vote Dem.

Or maybe you had a very poor candidate who had been handed everything she had ever received and that was installed rather than chosen by the voters and who couldn’t communicate any meaningful policies that reasonable people wanted.

No, Harris lost because she was an all-around bad candidate. She's an inept politician, joined at the hip with an inept administration. She's a lackluster speaker, at least that's how she presented herself on the occasion that she chose to even appear publicly. She failed hard at negotiating during her campaign. Her campaign squandered untold millions of dollars (then again, maybe that's a resume enhancer if you're a democrat). And so on.

When you select your Veep based on "Impeachment Insurance" for the corrupt, otherwise unlikable bastard y'all have at the top of the ticket, eventually your choice is gonna bite you square in the buttocks when the top of the ticket can no longer cut it, and you're forced to rely on the "Impeachment Insurance".

No, yard work, it’s you and your party that is dumb. You let your party pick your candidate without any thought to all the voters felt. Then you all lined up behind her donated billions of dollars which see squandered all that and more only to take a flogging from Democrats and Republicans alike.
You are too busy making up stories about Trump then to deal with reality. So you lost and continue to do so as long as you don’t close your mouth open your eyes and ears and learn how to listen.
