Trump neither ordered the shutdowns, due to lack of authority, nor had the authority to order reopening. As the old saying goes, a text out of context - i.e. Covid - is a pretext.

Also In the real world, unemployment was falling in the last months of Trump's Presidency, due to some states opening up. That also is context the DU-Denizen omitted.

Why do I have a feeling that unemployment at the end of Carter's MalAdministration might have been worse than at the end of Trump's? And Carter didn't have to deal with a pandemic.
