Well, THAT was an enlightening and horrifying conversation...
Huge man, my last patient of the day yesterday (Thursday), black guy, basso profundo voice, dominant personality, disruptive: he screams the Eagles fight song every time he sees me because I was at one time one of the official dentists of the team, and an aggressive fist bump maybe six or seven times a visit.

This, believe it or not, is not a rare thing in dentist’s offices and it’s basically business as usual. However…

For background, the only Democrats in the whole office are the owner/dentist, his wife, and I. The entire staff are Trump all the way. It’s revolting but it’s South Jersey -Trump Country as my neighbors’ signs say loudly.

So this guy and my assistant are having a conversation when I entered the room and I hear her say ”I love Trump” followed by the gentleman bellowing , “He is my MAN. He’s gonna do it for us.” I smiled, “What’s he going to do for you?” His response, “He’s got it going on , he’s my MAN!!!”

My response, “He sure does.” Then we got down to business: “you’re sitting in my chair, you get the big one in the middle of the room.”

“No…I’m just here to talk today.”

Uh-oh. I can’t even guess…

He continued, “ I bought veneers from Amazon which are coming in on Saturday. I want you to put them on for me.” He showed me the photo from Amazon.

“So one size fits all, eh? Are you going to wear her color lipstick? Because her teeth are like half the size of yours. And which shade did you order…you have no yellow in your teeth, indicating that you may have some Native American background, so standard shades aren’t great for you .”

He looked dumbfounded. I continued, “You know, you Trump people think you’ve got the jump on everything and everyone because you believe that there’s nothing to know about any business or profession AND you can bully your way through everything. I’ll put those veneers or whatever the eff they are on for you and it’s a shame that Halloween is over because you could’ve gone out as a Martian.”.
No response. “I’ll fit these for you and I’ll cement them if you want. But like your choice of Trump, whatever then happens is all on you. Don’t you ever, EVER, come in here and complain, got it?”

“Yeah.” Deflated.

I then finished with , “Cheer up, you’re gonna be fine because your boy Trump does not sexually abuse black women so your family’s going to be ok.” As far as your teeth go, well, they’re your personal version of January the Sixth. See you next week.”

I just walked out of the room, put on my jacket, and drove home to sanity. Tired of this shit.

IF this were true, our buddy PCI would be hunting for a new practice to join next week. Doctors and partners frown strongly on this sort of behavior... which is why it never happened.

It's not true for a truckload of reasons.
Doctors (and even dentists) have their itinerary for the day. They know who is coming and why so they can be prepared for the ones that they need to be involved with. Everyone knows this. You go to the dentist twice a year, and you *might see the actual dentist once for about 90 seconds... maybe.
PCI assumed this guy was next in line, but that's not how it works.
A doctor (even a dentist) is a resource in short supply in any practice, and it is used in the most frugal manner possible. Patients don't just walk into an exam room and confer with the dentist on making an appointment for anything.
In addition, there are few single provider practices left today. The vast majority of them are partnerships, or they are owned and operated by a larger institution, and the docs are just employees. As PCI himself states, there is at least one partner doc here. If this mongrel were arguing politics with a patient and being insulting and rude, it would cause a very serious riff. These are no-go zones, and if he were really a dentist, he would be quite aware of that.

* The guy got into the dental chair without an appointment? Who does PCI think he's fooling?

* Surprisingly (to me at least), dental veneers and fake replacement teeth can be bought on Amazon ... BUT they are for temporary cosmetic use while waiting to get a permanent repair from a dentist.

All of our dentists here are booked so far out it’s crazy. When I see my dentist, he barely has time to say hello. I’ve also never once been in a medical office where the doctor talks politics. I guess it’s just different here. To have a thriving practice with that much time to talk to patients, you would make a fortune here in western PA.

"It's been here 145 years. They had a boiler that was 60 or 70 years old. And the first week in November, guess what? It went on the fritz," Fossella said.

"They had it replaced. And the reputation of Holtermann's is impeccable, so rather than commit to something they couldn't guarantee, they said, 'we can't do it.' And the person who besmirched, defamed them, took that as an insult to her. Well, get over it. This family will be here for, God willing, another 145 years."

Holtermann thanked the community for its support in the wake of the controversy and said she has been bombarded with calls since the episode aired.

"I'm so overwhelmed by the support. Between finding out yesterday, this even happened, getting phone calls and then people coming in and people from all over just supporting us in every way," she said. "We had phone calls yesterday from Alabama. Guys, I'm going to give you $50, send it to a school, send them donuts, send them cupcakes. The support has been so overwhelming and I know how hard my family has worked to keep this business alive."
