Don't buy anything at Kroger's

Went there today. It's local grocery store. They dropped the prices on a lot of things. They are manipulating the election. The prices are not from supply and demand or stock market but by their whim.

This is an actual thread on DU that at this writing has FOUR recommendations.

I wonder if anyone has explained to this mouth-breather that the election was LAST WEEK. And stores very often have what have come to be known as SALES.

Sweet granny's gravy, these people are stupid.

In the real world, Kroger is a multi-billion-dollar company, $2.3B net income from $150B gross revenue. I won't do the Math, but that's less than 2% profit. Kroger is not "price-gouging".

If Kroger is like California chain Lucky or like Safeway, they have weekly sales in which they drop the prices on a bunch of items to draw shoppers in to buy more than just the selected sale-priced items. I might row over to see if any DU-Denizen had the intelligence and courage to point out that Blue Full Moon sees Pro-Trump conspiracy in a retail practice that dates back decades, probably more than the 7 or so decades I've been around.

Grocery margins are razor thin at all times. They cannot possibly collude to keep prices high without materially disrupting their business. Given that liberals think that if a company has $1 in net income, it should give the whole thing to employees, they will never understand this.

I think a useful government agency (after we gut useless stuff) would be the Bureau of Instructive Commerce, where the government creates businesses to be run by liberal shitheads who think they know better. The business has to generate an annual rate of return at least that of the S&P 500, or the business is shut down and the shithead liberals are given a choice between being shot or electrocuted.

Going back to Accounting 1A in the early 1980s ... large chain grocery stores operate using a different business model. Every year they "invest" $###M in their inventory. They make 1-2% on each sale on average, but they turn over that inventory enough times in a year that the profit from their "investment" is decent. But their net profit from their revenue is still 1-2% Needless to say, Mom-and-Pops cannot use this business model.

Ralph could probably explain the above more clearly. When I took Accounting 1A, B, and C at the local JC, Lotus 1-2-3 was still in the future and VisiCalc was just coming into use for serious accounting. A spreadsheet was still usually a large sheet of paper with lots of eraser smudges.

Common practice. Negotiate to purchase an item in order to sell at a reduced price to draw customers. More often with grocery stores you see it with Coke and Pepsi products. That’s not exclusive, but just the product lines I more often notice being on sale.

Kroger is obviously price gouging at Kamala tells us.

The heartless greedy thieves at Kroger reported a whopping net profit margin of 1.86% in July!

I thought the DUmp knew that the president doesn't decide the price of stuff?  It's so hard to keep track of reality when you make it up on the fly.

Aaand of course it's only 'election manipulation', and has nothing to do with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday coming upand anything the electorate at large might be thankful for; right, DUmp'Rat?
