A long time ago at a time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I was in a course at Ft. Bragg (now Ft. Liberty). During the patrol evolution, we were hunkered down on a mandatory patrol base exercise when our cadre all of a sudden alerted on some locals that were wandering through the training area. I'll never forget the sequence of events, we were told to shut the **** up while one of the instructors drew out one of his Everyday Carry (EDC) weapons, quietly racked a round and started stalking. Nothing happened, but later on we were told that locals would enter the training area looking for students because we were carrying unloaded M-16s (this was before the changeover to M-4s) to steal.

These are the pappys and grandpappys of these mother****ers threatening FEMA.

I say it's time to flush them out as Operation FAFO.

Qs for guy who served in the Army:

* Is "Cadre" actual usage?

* Is "Everyday Carry (EDC) weapons" actual usage?

I would expect "unit" and "side arm", but I'm a life-long civilian and might be wrong about Army usage.

From what I've read, these reports of North Carolina "militias" are only a few folks "with knowledge of the story" from whiny FEMA employees.

Reminds me of 1995 after Timothy McVeigh bombed the Murrah Federal Building in OKC. The media, as it was at the time mostly pre-internet did all these stories about the militias gathering all over the U.S. And many of the facts entered in assumption were that these people were pro-gun and anti big government. The leftist media extrapolates minute pieces of information into a mountain when it is actually a tiny molehill.

Cadre means school staff, like Instructors, etc.

I've never heard the term EDC. You have your duty weapon and backup. I suppose some departments allow off duty weapons, mine dont...

You don't carry live private weapons on post, ever.

When I was in (and I'm sure the same is true today) NO ONE had their own private "everyday carry" firearm.  The pistols carried by those who were assigned to carry them weren't called everyday carry firearms.

As to people just wandering onto a training area... Uh, nope!  Good way to get killed at Ft. Bragg.  I have seen some active duty wander into an impact area and were vamoosed from that pretty damn quick!

That whole story is fabricated.

That pretty much sums that whole thing up. As big of a lie as there ever was. When my unit, The 101st, went down to Florida to train on an Air Force base we got chased off one of our LZ one night because someone had landed us in an impact area. We couldn't get out of there fast enough but had to walk through it hoping nothing went boom. And the only live rounds on any post are on a live fire range under strict controls. No one is carring a personal or military firearm with live rounds in a training area.

It's the typical Democrat politician attempt to look like they actually support the 2nd Amendment.  First Harris declares she owns a Glock and then this bird hunting photo op.  Harris acting like she has a gun for personal protection when she is surrounded by Secret Service agents?  Are we supposed to believe that if her life was in danger she'd grab her Glock and provide back-up for the agents?  And not only did Walz appear to not know how to load his shotgun, but his hunting gear looked brand new.  In some of the photos you can see the creases in his vest like it's the first time it's been unfolded since it was picked up at Bass Pro.  Reminds me of this famous photo trying to make Obama look like an NRA member.



Needless to say no one was impressed.

Shotguns come with manuals? Back in ancient times figuring out my 20 gauge bolt action and my 12 gauge double-barrel was so simple I don't even remember doing that. Maybe an $1800 Italian 12 gauge semi-automatic is more complicated? More likely Walz is so unfamiliar with non-military fire arms that he fumbled with his ignorance.
