(banging head against keyboard) My repuke mother thinks Palin did "wonderful" tonight with Gibson. SO I brought up her bumbling the Bush Doctrine and needing Gibson to tell her what it was. Then I followed it up with "and then there is her saying she would go to was with RUSSIA".

Mom: Uh, um, uh, well..I guess I missed bits and pieces of it all, I didn't hear all that. Hey, did you hear that Biden said that Obama should have picked Hillary?

(insert my head explosion here)

I start to put Biden's comments into context and tell her also about Obama saying why he picked Biden, quoting some of what Obama said this week.

Mom: Well, he had to pick someone with experience since HE doesn't have ANY.

Me: Start going thru Obama and Biden's records of experience. Throwing in Palin's non-record, ending it with "can't wait for the VP debate!!"

Mom: Well, we better change the topic I can see we have totally different views. Guess the saying about don't discuss politics or religion is true. (insert meaningless "how's the weather" type conversation here). Quickly followed by her saying: "Well I will let you go, don't wanna use up your cell phone minutes"!!

AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!

I'll bet the rainbow primitive's mother makes up some great Thanksgiving dinners, too.

Thinking the VP debate will be the discombobulation you have been predicting Frank.

The DUchebags really do have some remarkable family members.  I would not be able to have such restraint.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I've been going to holiday dinners, reunions, birthday parties, wedding receptions, etc., for over 50 years. Must be literally hundreds of family get togethers, of a big family. In all that time, I do not recall there ever having been a political discussion of any kind. Not one. Not during Watergate, not during the disgrace of the Clintons, and every person at those gatherings is more intelligent and perceptive than any DUmmy. Everyone has a great time geatherings, and we love one another dearly, although some may be as strongly democrat as I am Republican.

Either my relatives are not normal, or DUmmies have miserable family lives, or all their stories are lies.
I don't think we're abnormal.

My mom died a few years ago.

I miss her very much.  She was one of the smartest people I have ever encountered (of course I realized that much later).

She sacrificed and worked her ass off for 7 kids and a dad who somehow was able to minimally skate on his obligations.  She (we) were on welfare (to her extreme embarrassment) -- she went to night school to get an AA and eventually got a series of jobs that got her off the dole.

I, more than almost anyone, know what the difference between a hand up and a handout.

I remember how I would sit at her bedside and we would talk -- late into the night.  She taught me about real values.

Mom died because the world put too much on he plate.  And I was one of the heaviest burdens.  She died so young (in her 60s).

Everything I do, I do in honor of her.  I don't measure up (who can?) but I try.

I try.

Well, at least she has a lucid conversation with her mom. My guess (if the conversation really took place) mom explained how stupid and wrong her daughter was, interpreting Sarah Palin's words thus and so. Notice how she feels compelled to put Biden's words "in context" but doesn't give the same courtesy to Sarah. My nut case mother rarely takes her head out of the bottle long enough to know what's going on in the world. She should be grateful she has a mom she can talk to. My guess, moonbat daughter was coming unglued and mom decided a rational discussion would be impossible and so changed the subject.

My mom was my mother when I was young and my friend (and voice of reason and wisdom) when I was a bit older.

I pity those who didn't have those relationships with their mothers.
