Matt needs to pay attention to the more successful beggars over there. For example, Lunabell is currently giving a class on how to rake in the free money.

I hate to ask for help again, but...
Remember this gently used car many on DU helped me to get the down-payment?
The engine died and I am humbly asking for some help again. This is so embarrassing for me, but here goes:
Wow, the worst year ever. I am sorry to report that the engine in my gorgeous gently used new car went kaphlooey. It was during the Hurricane Debby as I was driving home. I got a lyft home, but because we were in a state of emergency, they towed it off of the interstate almost immediately.
After getting it out of impound ($300.00) I had it towed to the preferred repair shop of the warranty company. Apparently, it is still under Hyundai warranty, I called Hyundai and scheduled an appointment. It is not until Aug. 27th. And it may take up to two weeks to get it repaired. The warranty company does not pay for towing or rides. They reimburse at a small rate.
Meanwhile, not having a credit card, I am unable to rent a car. Well, I did through priceline, but did not read the fine print about the $400.00 deposit required. I went to get the car, but did not have enough on my debit card to cover the deposit. So, I lost the $313.92 that I paid out. No refunds.
I am having to rely on friends or hire a car to get to work and back. It's hard to find a friend to wake up and take me at 6:00 am. So, it's been uber or lyft. I have missed shifts because of this.
I hate to even do this again. To ask for donation. It's embarrassing, but we are just hanging on and I am out of options. We once again had to get a forbearance on our mortgage. We missed the deadline for eldercare services to help pay the utility bill. The groceries are dwindling and we don't even have a vehicle to go to the local food bank.
I am a 62, almost 63 year old nurse. I am employed, but can't get reliably to work and am afraid I will be fired. My wife is a veteran and disabled. We have a house full of rescued pets and trap/neuter/release feral cats that rely on us. This is so hard for me to ask, but please consider a donation.
Thank you, Lara
K&R please. And will you please share on your social media? Thanks!

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10182047540The GoFundMe she linked to is the one she ran a year ago to get a down payment for a new car when her previous vehicle also had a catastrophic engine failure. In it she mentions that she is elderly, working as a nurse, in some sort of career turmoil and a lesbian married to a disabled veteran. Of course, she is behind on all her bills and is relying on the kindness of strangers for the bare necessities. Her original target was around $5000, and she got about $3000. She raised her goal to $7500 and scored another $2000 this time around but she's not done yet.
First, she kept putting up new threads to make it appear as if they were new requests for help:

My wife and I need help. Our situation is complicated and immediate.
I haven't been able to work in almost 3 weeks. Luckily, they have been very understanding.

Wow, the worst year ever. I don't know if you know about what happened last year, but things really went downhill after one of my patients passed away unexpectedly. (Natural causes, not the fault of any nurses. We were totally exonerated.) But, things (money things, thank goodness our health was good.) piled up and the icing on the cake was my Kia Soul also passed away. Many people generously helped us get the funds needed for a down-payment for this used car.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/10182049081Now, all of a sudden, she hasn't been able to work for three weeks even though Hurricane Debby went through Florida two weeks ago and even though she claims that she has been getting to work (at least some) through friends and Uber or Lyft. And she has started up a new GoFundMe to make it appear that this is a totally brand-new request. Matt should have realized that he was surrounded by master moochers and learned from them, but alas he failed to make the most of his opportunities.
