Why are so many authoritarian dystopias set in England? 1984, V for Vendetta are top of the list, I'm sure there are others, lots of late 70s-early 80s British punk bands were dead set that Thatcher was going to rain down terror on any dissent, is there something in the water or just something historical I'm missing that fuels those thoughts over there? We've seen recent history like this story that indicates that paranoia wasn't wrong, but, seriously, what gives?
