Let DU be DU
The DU I have known and participated in for more than 20 years is a forum to be proud of. Nothing is perfect, but DU comes close in the world of online forums. Real people with progressive values communicate in their own style without the benefit of consultants or speechwriters. They speak from the heart, and with the same goal on both mundane and life and death matters.

You know what they don't do? They don't lie. Lies are not tolerated here. They don't condone, hint at, or call for violence. If a DUer does either of these things, they are censored by their peers, as they should be. Contrast that with maga forums and get back to me.

Sometimes DUers swear. It's not my style, and I rarely if ever do it. Heck, I even use the #@@@ in place of swear words and crap instead of the s word. But that's me. I'm also an adult, and I am not going to get the vapors if someone swears or uses off color language. In almost all cases, language like this is both an emotional release and a way to communicate the seriousness of the situation. Really, it's fine.

Let's keep making DU a place to unite our party during one of the most consequential elections of our time. Tone policing and infighting is not only tiresome and divisive, it's also a waste of time. And we don't have time to waste. There's 100 days left, people!!

And this is a big part of why I come to DU.

Your Facebook friend don't believe you because everything you just wrote is a total lie.  They don't lie??  Three-quarters of the posts about Trump are lies.  They are trying to spread a meme that Vance used a couch to masturbate, which is a total fabrication.  The rare DUmmy that points out when they are lying is attacked as a supporter of Trump or the Republican Party.  They don't condone or hint at violence??  There are literally hundreds of posts lamenting the fact that the attempt on Trump's life was unsuccessful.  Currently on their front page is a video of a little old lady joking that she punched her brother in the face for supporting Trump.  They gloat about swearing at, flipping off and threatening people they perceive as right-leaning.  Although most of those claims are Bouncy's, a least a few of them openly discuss assaulting or shooting Republicans.  Anyone who looks at DU with an unbiased view would find them to be a frightening fringe group.  They achieved cult status a long time ago, and are moving into Jim Jones territory.

I find it almost inconceivable that anyone would post, or agree, with such a ludicrous statement.  But they really have lost their grip on reality.  It's like Biden's dementia is contagious.

That post is a joke. They are blind to their hatred and hypocrisy. It seems that they try and outdo each other with their lies and stories of alienating friends and family. You have to be mentally deranged to be a member there.

DUmmies lie all the time. Here are just a few of the lies that I can recall off the top of my head that were posted on DU:
1. The Virgin Mary was in fact a prostitute, Joseph was her pimp, and Jesus's actual biological father was a Roman customer of hers (The DUmmy who posted that blasphemous lie has a reserved seat in Hell).
2. All their "9/11 was an inside job" conspiracy theories.
3. All their "Chemtrails" conspiracy theories.
4. Donald Trump murdered a journalist (That lie was posted on DU just a couple weeks ago)
5. All their bouncy tales, obviously.
6. Abraham Lincoln's assassination was a plot by the Republican party, who also turned a blind eye to the KKK (We all eviscerated the ignoramus who posted that).
7. Trig Palin was not Sarah Palin's son, but was in fact conceived by incest between Bristol Palin and her brother Track, which would supposedly account for why Trig had Down's Syndrome (Another DUmmy liar with a reserved seat in Hell). In fact, I can also very distinctly recall a DU thread from 2008 in which a DUmmy openly encouraged his fellow leftists to keep loudly parroting the repulsive "Trig Palin is REALLY Bristol's son, not Sarah's" rumor even if it turned out to be false (Which, of course, it WAS), on the grounds that deliberately spreading a vicious, reputation- destroying lie about a family is perfectly okay as long as it keeps Sarah Palin out of the White House. The other DUmmies openly supported this.

The DUmmies have openly called for violence too many times to count!
Just a few examples:
1. They've openly demanded rioting and openly cheered on active rioters multiple times.
2. They've openly demanded a violent coup to overthrow Trump and reinstall Obama as president.
3.  Underground Panther, not long after last year's Nashville Christian school shooting, openly expressed a desire to massacre as many Christians and Republicans as possible.
4. The DUmmies have repeatedly called for Trump's assassination, such as the "Patriotic sniper" post I bumped back up after the recent assassination attempt and DUAC head Bigman Pigman proposing slipping poisonous mushrooms into Trump's food.
5. A DU thread in which a DUmmy openly said America should adopt the old Soviet Union policy for dealing with "Fundies" (In other words, have all Christians rounded up and shipped off to gulags to be tortured and executed unless they deny Jesus and become atheists).

DU is Cinder-Block City, the seat of Chicken-Wire County. DU-folk still believe:

* Trump-Russia Collusion;

* Trump inspired bomb threats against synagogues and Jewish community centers;

* Trump wasted the first 2 months of the Covid pandemic;

* Trump advised injecting bleach;

* Urkrainian quid pro quo;

* Trump advocated 1/6 violence;

* Trump tried to take over the Presidential limo on 1/6.

It's not like it's hard to call to mind and call out the lies DU-folk believe and spread. Not hard to disprove each and every lie.

Yeppers. Somebody made a stupidly false, easily fact-check lurid claim, and AP found it too appealing a gotcha to fact-check before publishing. I mean, buy the damn Kindle book on Amazon ($15, probable business expense) and do a word search for "couch"! Or do the same with a Nook edition of the book ($17, probable business expense)! Would that take as long as 5 minutes?!
