I hope the debate was a reality check for those DUers who always underestimate Trump.
So many predicted he wouldn't even show up. Or that he'd walk off the stage. Or even that he'd physically attack Biden. Those were the predictions of people who don't get it, same as the predictions of the people that predicted Trump would quit the race in 2016 or wouldn't show up for inauguration or would flee the country before he could be tried and so on and so on.
You all miss the point: Trump is a performer. Always has been. He is the embodiment of PT Barnum. He knows a sucker is born every minute and plays to that audience.
So, from now on, can people get over their fantasies about Trump meltdowns etc. and recognize that he's not just going to dry up and blow away.

Been reading this forum for two decades and the bullshit that is happening here is beyond anything that I have ever seen. In years past if you weren’t on the enthusiasm train you got a hide. Not anymore. Now it is casual to just call for the sitting president to drop out because of a debate performance.
Thats where we are at now on this site. This bothers me. This actually shakes me to the core more than what happened to this site on election night 2016 with the hack. To me this is unbelievable. If I cannot find enthusiasm for our president and candidate here, what is the point of coming here at all? None.
Biden is our candidate. The ling and short of it. If you can’t sell his message then why are YOU here? This is it folks. We lose this election and it is ****ing over. Do you understand? It is ****ing over. I am talking jailed journalists. The end of the middle class, the ****ing end of rights for people on a large scale basis. If you cannot sell hope and the message then it IS OVER.
So you had better buck the **** up or be ready to live ina full on authoritarian regime because that is what the **** is going to happen.
I don’t give a **** what you think of the debate but as far as what you are saying about Biden, it better be said while you are whistling zippedeedooda out of your asshole because if not you are going to be living in a ****ing nightmare in 6 months.
Gavin newsome isn’t coming in on a white horse to save the day. Nobody else is the ****ing candidate. Joe Biden is and will be the candidate so either disregard everything else and sell sell sell the ****ing message or be ready to be marched to the gulags…. Because that IS what is going to happen if we lose.

No f*****g way should we change the Democratic candidate for the presidential election.
It HAS to be Joe Biden. Look how difficult it was to get people to galvanize and vote for Hillary Clinton after the primary in 2016. Our party was divided, there were hard feelings that had to be resolved.

If you change the candidate now, we are going to see what happens in Florida with the Democratic candidates. Not enough name recognition, not enough connection with the person's platform and under the least worst scenario, people will not show up to vote because they are not convinced.

They went in lockdown about 10 or 15 minutes after the debate started.  Joe's rambling and mumbling has got them very worried.  I watched a little of the post-debate wrap-ups and there are a lot of Dem insiders talking about replacing Biden on the ticket.

How can they replace Joe and save face? They really can't. Kamala has been a heartbeat away from being president and she would be the natural choice, but she's a disaster. But if they don't pick her they sent a message that they never really believed in her and that a black woman can't be president. Newsom is a loser. They might want Big Mike but why should she take a bloodbath?

They are really in a fix.

I suppose they could push for another debate and hope they get the injection formula right this time.

They have to keep Harris on the ticket or they lose all the money raised to date. Donors send money to a specific candidate and not whoever is the democrat nominee.

If they’re smart, they may lose face by replacing him, but they would have a better chance of winning. Gavin nuance would be a pretty good replacement I think because he’s young. Looks good in front of a camera and definitely a great liar. They could leave Harris as vice president or give her the governorship of California to appease her.

They’re definitely between a rock and a hard spot where they deserve to be in my opinion. Biden came out and in spite of the make up and hair after the first question, the guy just looked defeated.

This is where it has to be a really tough decision. They agreed to 2 debates. You know they have to be weighing that now. Do they take a chance and hope to get at least a little better performance or cancel it and everyone realize that was as good as it’s going to be for Joe?  That’s a tough spot!

Watching MSLSD and CNN last night and this morning, these people are in mourning. I’m not hating it!   :rotf:

His dementia isn’t getting any better. All you have to do is watch and see that he is in a constant state of mental decline every day. The one thing I do know is this; this is their problem, and I’m going to point and laugh every step of the way of them trying to figure it out.

I actually liked the mute option and I though the moderators did a pretty good job staying out of it.

Biden was a trainwreck and Trump wasn't much better. We better hope Biden isn't replaced with someone that can complete 4 sentences and can actually answer questions instead of repeating the same thing over and over and over. Otherwise Trump will be toast.

I have to mostly agree. They did give Pedo-Joe more talk time without doubt. But they mostly kept their opinions out of it. They asked Trump some BS questions, but they didn't give Joe a pass either (with a couple of exceptions). They did use the timer to bail him out a couple of times, or it was just coincidence. Trump wasn't at his best for sure, but he did what was best, kept quiet and let Sniffy talk, that's all you have to do to wreck him.
