Looks like Ike is going to be the storm Gustav wasn't .... at least for those of us in SE Texas.  You probably won't hear much about us because ....well because we are not New Orleans.   :-)  The DUmmies probably won't even have a post about it when it is said and done.  That makes me sooo sad.  LOL

I am scheduled to fly to Mexico via DFW on Saturday morning.

I wonder if I will make it...

Ike is coming early Sat. morning.  If they do go ahead with the flight I'll bet you fly out over New Mexico before you head south.  They are predicting 80+ mph winds here where I live and I'm 120 miles inland.

Keep your head down and make sure that your car is topped off, you have plenty of batteries, stock up on whatever you need that can be eaten without intensive cooking and possibly fill some water containers.

Not much will be heard after the storm passes because Texans take care of themselves.  No whining or blaming someone else.

I went ahead and stopped by the store tonight.  Picked up a loaf of bread and an extra jar of peanut butter (the one I have is running low). 

All my family in the Beaumont/Pt Arthur area have all left home and are headed up here.

Ehh it's just for me.  I have a little less than half a jar already and a back up now.  :)  I don't have to feed the family...that's my brother's job.  Everyone will congregate at his house and I'm sure my SIL will go grocery shopping tomorrow. 

When Rita hit, they couldn't find but two hotel rooms so there were 12 people staying at my brother's house.  BTW, high recommendations for the Aero bed, everyone really loved them.
