Do you think Bob Barr and Ron Paul will have any noticeable affect in November?

I am curious as to what affect, if any, you think Bob Barr and Ron Paul will have on the election. Seems to me I hardly ever hear about Barr and the Ronulans seem to have run out of fervor and steam. 'Course, I don't hang out with them, so maybe that's a misperception.

Nope and nope.  Picking Palin roped in the vast majority of those who would have voted for Obama by casting their ballot for either of those guys.

The Paulians weren't going to account for any more than Buchannan did in 2000; what, 2%, maybe 3%?  Barr and the Libertarians are likely to see an upswing, if only because the Libertarians put forward the first credible candidate they've had in years, perhaps decades.  They'll still only account for another 4% to 6% tops, largely because McCain has shored up most of the leaking to the Libertarians he was experiencing with the Sarah Palin nod  - people such as myself.

Even with a maximum of 9% going to hyper conservative 3rd party candidates, I still expect McCain to pick up Teh Obamessiah's self distruction and run with it all the way to the end zone come November.  I don't expect it to even be close.

Barr is the former R congressman from Georgia who's now the Libertarian presidential candidate. Paul is still, believe it or not, in the race, although it seems no one's really paying much attention to him anymore. He held his "counter convention" somewhere in Minneapolis, I believe. I guess his massive ego had him thinking people would really give a shit and he'd make some kind of "splash" that would take attention away from the real convention.

Before Palin Bob Barr looked attractive if I really, really, really felt the need to vote for someone for President.

But even so, he never really got any press so even Before Palin I doubt he would have made any sort of dent.

Ron Paul had a better chance of pulling the DUmmie and KOmmie and MoveOn vote if Hillary got the nomination.  Still, I think he will pull more Truther votes from the DUmmie ranks than Barr will pull conservative ranks.  Still I guess they could split the extreme Buchanan wing of the GOP but it's doubtful those people would vote for McCainez in the first place, even with Palin.

I think any attraction Barr may have had just evaporated with him hooking up with Ron Paul. They'll pull support from the left amongst the truthers and dopers and some fags but nothing of consequence. They may garner 2 - 3 % of the vote.

I did not know any of that.  He always seemed solid when  I saw him on the cable shows in the 1990's.

Now he sounds a bit like McCain.  Thank God Juan from somewhere got the sense enough to pick Palin.  Right now, that is his only redeeming quality.

I wouldn't have voted Libertarian anyway.
