Fascinating on several levels.  Was this a protest?  If so, a protest against such tech in general, or by ride-share drivers concerned (rightfully so) about being replaced?  Was it just general violence, cause someone felt like destroying something?  Doubtful we will get answers.

Also interesting, this almost excuse for such behavior from the article's author.

Quote
Vandalism and defacement are time-honored parts of the human experience, seen in subway cars in New York City or the walls of the ancient destroyed city of Pompeii. Tech companies have been forced to reckon with this inevitability as they deploy their equipment in public with impunity. Scooters get tossed into lakes, cars are punched by pedestrians, and in some places, dockless bike share bikes are destroyed en masse.
Romans 6:17-18 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

Since there’s really no punishment in the number of major cities, vandals and hoodlums act with impunity, because they know even if they get arrested, they’ll be out with no bail, and will probably never have to see the inside of a courtroom or jail.
It’s the sign of the civilization in decline because of poor leadership
