Hamas kills 40 in unprecedented, wide-ranging incursion into Israel. Netanyahu says 'we are at war'

JERUSALEM (AP) — The ruling Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel at daybreak Saturday, firing thousands of rockets as dozens of fighters infiltrated the heavily fortified border in several locations by air, land and sea, catching the country off guard on a major holiday.

Several hours after the invasion began, Hamas militants were still fighting gunbattles inside several Israeli communities in a surprising show of strength that shook the country. Israel’s national rescue service said at least 40 people have been killed and hundreds wounded, making it the deadliest attack in Israel in years.

At least 40 people have died in Israel and more than 700 people have been injured after rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel by Hamas militants, Israeli authorities said.

The Palestinian Health Authority says 160 were killed in Gaza and over a 1,000 were injured this morning in the fighting.

The Israeli Defense Forces have declared "a state of alert for war," according to a statement issued by the IDF early Saturday morning.

Palestinian militants fired at least 2,200 rockets toward Israel, the IDF said. Meanwhile, Hamas claimed at least 5,000 rockets were fired, all landing in southern and central Israel.

Hamas fired off thousands of rockets aimed, sort of, toward Israeli cities. The world will go full-Sergeant-Schulz.

Israel will target known rocket-firing sites and rocket storage sites, and the world will howl, because Hamas uses civilians as human shields. I wonder how many rocket-firing sites were/are UN-run "schools" and "hospitals" or AP/UPI/media headquarters sites.

To offset this noticeable deficit, the Dems/left have to exert themselves by being authoritarian/totalitarian domestically, which is where we are in the country now.

I fully expect Israel to do what they must do. But these terrorists groups know that if they can hang on long enough, the left in America will make it where the US either sides with them or turns a blind eye.

'Squad' Dems face backlash calling for 'ceasefire' after Israel attacks: 'Can’t merely condemn terrorism'

"Squad" House Democrats known for criticizing the state of Israel faced massive backlash from conservatives online over their milquetoast statements following Hamas's deadly surprise attack on Israel.

Several members of the informal progressive caucus published statements on Saturday condemning the violence and calling for the conflict to de-escalate.

Fox News Digital reached out to Tlaib's office for comment on the deadly surprise terrorist attack on Israel but did not receive a response.

Meanwhile, "Squad" queen Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., called for a "ceasefire and de-escalation" after the surprise terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel.

"Today is devastating for all those seeking a lasting peace and respect for human rights in Israel and Palestine. I condemn Hamas’ attack in the strongest possible terms," the New York Democrat said.

"No child and family should ever endure this kind of violence and fear, and this violence will not solve the ongoing oppression and occupation in the region," Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) continued.

"An immediate ceasefire and de-escalation is urgently needed to save lives," she added.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., — who has a history of controversial statements about Israel — condemned "the horrific acts we are seeing unfold today in Israel against children, women, the elderly, and the unarmed people who are being slaughtered and taken hostage by Hamas."

"Such senseless violence will only repeat the back and forth cycle we've seen, which we cannot allow to continue," Omar said.

We are not really sure what happened but the Hamas attack on Israel seems to have made half the people on X (Twitter) dumber and Jennifer Rubin is leading the pack.

How about this: With US House in chaos and US military promotions on hold, Hamas struck. Republicans' weakness invites terror.

We have never held Jennifer up as a beacon of intelligence but this is stupid even for her. Hamas was not just being cool and chill and suddenly saw the GOP doing a song and dance and decided to suddenly hate the Jews. Good grief just reading that made us dumber.
