6. These trolls are like blood sucking vampires that only come out at certain times.
Elections are those certain times.
They can lay dormant between elections. But some post a little bit in between to get their post counts up, and make a few snuggly posts to make "friends" on DU. That makes it harder to tombstone them when they finally start to show their true colors.
The MIRT team is so amazing they blow me away! I was on the MIRT team for one term about a year ago, and it was an eye opening experience, the things people will come up with to try to seem legitimate, and slip something by. It made me love DU even more to see how truly brilliant some of our DUers are at keeping us safe. I didn't sign up again because I've been slammed with work and personal life for the past year and a half, but I'm glad I did it when I had the opening in my life.
Brilliant DUers? That truly is an oxymoron.

And what are they being kept safe from? Differing ideas? Thoughts that don't conform with the hive mind? I wonder how many DUmmies ponder the fact that they can come on this site and point out all of Trump's flaws and point out the things that Democrats have done right and not get banned. The only people I've seen banned were the ones who were here for no reason other than to disrupt. But offer up any criticism of Biden or agree with anything Trump did on DU, no matter how long you've been there or how many posts you have, and you're going to get banned while the DUmmies dance on your grave. The Hillary Purge of 2016 really stands out as an event that would have made Stalin or Mao proud. As others have pointed out it was Orwellian how long-term, high count posters were disappeared and the DUmmies collectively swore that they always had suspicions about those posters. Posters that were supposedly beloved had their history immediately rewritten and they became non-persons.

9. When I get less tied up in my personal life would love to join
Used to be a moderator for many terms and would like MIRT.
Matt's job must be keeping him really busy.

When given the choice of going to work to keep a roof over his head and food on the table or being a member of MIRT any question on which he would choose. Of course he may think that being DU's Mall Cop is a real job. Maybe he figures that a stint at MIRT, along with his previous moderator duties, will really round out his resume.
