Global warming is accelerating, with temperatures not just rising but rising faster than ever. Every day, it seems, we get better at normalizing extreme weather. But it is simultaneously proving harder to compartmentalize — even in places such as New York City that once looked to residents like concrete fortresses against nature.*snip*

Last weekend, it was Hudson Valley streets turned into swimming pools by supercharged rain and ravines disgorging landslides that those in New York City watched with a mix of horror and false relief. The flooding was “upstate,” we told ourselves, though by “upstate,” of course, we meant not even 50 miles north of the city.

I don't know who this DUmmie really is but she fancies herself a climate expert of some sort at the DUmp, however, she fails to explain this little contradiction from her cited article...

People were kayaking through Montpelier, and the Winooski River rose to levels not seen since catastrophic flooding in 1927. The governor had to hike his way to an open road.

And it used to be the gloom and doom over a coming ice age in the early-mid 70's.

Humans tend to have a recency bias without ever considering that a lot of stuff happened before they were alive. And since they aren't rational and govern themselves by emotion rather than logic and facts, nothing that comes out of their pie-holes makes a lick of sense.

As a quick related aside: I spent a summer in Texas, and the temperature hit 100 for an entire month. That was in the early 90's. Hot weather happens in summer, regardless of what humans do. F-ing dolts.

There is a regular and predictable cycle with the DUmmies (and indeed the whole of the watermelon environmentalists) - in the summer there are a few hot days, and they scream solidly about how its proof of global warming; a few months later, if there is bad snow in winter the unison choir takes up the chant that 'weather isn't the same thing as climate'. Interstate 80 between Sacramento and Woodland passes over a bypass to prevent flooding on the Sacramento River. When the river gets high enough, water is let into a bypass area, and as the rater level of the river drops, water flows out of the bypass back into the river. This bypass and another one farther upstream started being built in 1911, due to earlier floods. So the heavy rain and flooding in NorCal in 2017 and 2023 are nothing new. All the Warmistas' "abnormal" weather hokum is ignorance of the not so distant past and gaming people who don't know past weather patterns.
