'Succession' last night was too realistic and terrifying

Was horrifying to watch.

If people don't know the premise of the show, it's a thorough skewering of FOX News and the rich with stand ins for Rupert Murdock and his children as the main sociopaths.

It's coming to a close and last night's episode was the election episode where a Far Right candidate who's hinted at as being worse than Trump and totally fascist is in a tight race. It comes down to Wisconsin and Far Right extremists burn down a vote counting center in a heavy Dem part of Wisconsin. Before the flames are even doused, ATN (FOX) prematurely proclaims the far right candidate the winner because those votes are "obviously" burned. It was well done and completely harkened to Trump in 2020 begging FOX News to help him on election night. Mankin is the name of the Far Right candidate and he's portrayed as a straight up Neo Nazi.

Shows the selfishness and imaturity of these rich spoiled brats who plunge the country into chaos literally to settle sibling rivalries that go back to childhood. It's a really deep episode which takes aim at the rich, and also lobs shots at the media for promoting fascism for ratings and business. Just way to prescient and eerie throughout.

For this episode to air 5 days after CNN gave a well curated campaign rally for a candidate who intends to end our democracy if they get back in power was just a remarkable coincidence. These media companies are more than just asleep at the wheel, some of them think fascism will be good for business.

Does someone want to tell them it was the rich and spoiled who "fortified" our elections to ensure Donald Trump didn't win? And that satirizing past events is not "prescient"?

18. Very good point

I am still not certain what would have happened if the Supreme Court had not stepped in.

But if Gore would have won, I believe the country would be in a totally different place. 9/11 would have likely been stopped and that was the big event that was all the fascists needed to send us down a path to getting a despot wannabe like Trump. Gore took Al Qaeda's threat seriously and probably stopped 9/11, if he didn't he'd have used overwhelming force to catch Bin Laden in Afghanistan right after the invasion and we would have never invaded Iraq, but Sadam would have been deposed some other way.

And beyond all of that, we would be in a totally different spot with green energy.

Meddling with other countries' governments through some indirect means? That doesn't sound too different from the foreign policy we have right now.

Agreed, but my money says not in any way even the DUmp would like, or any positive differences.  Redundant I know, nothing the proggies want would actually be positive, especially not for low level proles like the DUmp flies.

"It comes down to Wisconsin and Far Right extremists burn down a vote counting center in a heavy Dem part of Wisconsin."
News flash, morons: You're FAR more likely to see ultra- left extremists torching buildings than far- right extremists.
Just look at all those "Mostly peaceful" George Floyd protests if you don't believe me.

"It's a really deep episode which takes aim at the rich..."
1. It sounds about as deep as a puddle.
2. An obviously ultra- liberal show featuring wealthy people as villains? Wow, how VERY original and groundbreaking! No ultra- liberal movies or shows have EVER done that before!

"Gore took Al Qaeda's threat seriously and probably stopped 9/11, if he didn't he'd have used overwhelming force to catch Bin Laden in Afghanistan right after the invasion and we would have never invaded Iraq, but Sadam would have been deposed some other way."

If Gore were president then, he'd have responded to 9/11 by saying, "Now, it's important that we not jump to conclusions in seeking to punish the people behind this tragedy. That won't solve anything. I think what we need to do is look at the root causes that made them so angry to want to do this. I'm of the theory that they are upset over global warming, our disgusting consumption- driven American lifestyle hurting our planet. Therefore, in the interests of preventing future attacks, I will be imposing a mandatory carbon- offsets tax on all American citizens."

Ain't you learned yet those riots were perpetrated by hard core right-wingers in an attempt to make the left look bad??

And all those blacks that were rioting? That's the black face of white supremacy.

You ain't fooling me..
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

The thing is, I don't see how Al Gore could have stopped 9/11. And yet, in DU's alternate reality, such a thing is not only possible, but probable. :mental:
