I skim Twitter without logging in. As of yesterday, I no longer see Trending and For You

options when I click on the search or bluebird icons. Just a random jumble of all sorts of posts - Musk's often at the top, then sports, entertainment, funny posts, offensive posts, etc. Probably more sports than anything else.

Musk started making the For You option useless months ago, with very few of my favorite accounts showing up. But at least I could see what was trending - though he was tinkering with that, too, boosting and deboosting subjects.

I can still do keyword and name searches, but I don't see any way to find out what's trending without logging in, which I won't do.

Musk seems to be trying to make Twitter useless for people who don't create accounts and log in. And nearly useless for those who don't subscribe as well.

Btw, this was the day the blue legacy checkmarks, for people who were actually verified, were finally supposed to disappear - after Musk had said for months they'd be removed soon, then said they'd definitely be removed on April 1, then postponed again, desperately hoping more people and businesses would pay.

DU-member highplainsdem doesn't understand how social media sites like Twitter and FB and etc. work. They "learn" your interests from your on-site history, browsing history, and cookies on your computer. Searching "Hello Kitty" on Amazon and eBay and rooting around Sanrio's website should illustrate this when you log in to Twitter or FB afterward (searching for computer power supplies will have the same effect - BTDT, got the banner ads - but searching "Hello Kitty" would be more entertaining). Anyway, back on-topic, if you are not logged in, you won't see "For You" (because you have not identified who "You" are), and the "Trending" index can't reflect the interests evident in your on-site history.

How long before some DU-member explains this to DU-member highplainsdem? ETA:  Looks like the thread might be too new to get many Replies.
