I don't know how people shop at Walmart

I was in there for a total of 20 minutes and left.
So depressed. All you see there is poverty and lots of it!
I’m glad I don’t have to shop there.
Ohio is getting poorer and poorer.
I don’t know why people voted for more Republicans.

But it's a matter of lack of competition. Not everyone has access to an Aldi or Kroger.

72. Huh. Different model here. We shop both, but also Publix, Aldis, etc.

So basics I know are both comparable in quality (pretty much excludes deli and bakery, don't even bother with those) and cheapest are from Walmart (the bulk of my groceries). Specials I do want and items not available or not as good at Walmart from others.

I don't know what's happened to Kroger's produce, but it's bad here too, old and limp. Shocking. Would never have believed that'd happen. Walmart's produce may lack a few items, but quality's generally fine. I guess it moves fast.

33. A lot of time it is merely the illusion

of "good prices". People believe they are getting great deals, but often Walmart's prices are no better than any other discount store.

Of course, there are places where Walmart came in and put a lot of stores out of business. Then the locals had no choice but to shop at Walmart for the most part.

it's convenient and the prices are lower, also, if I run out of hours whlie making my delivery, most Walmart's will let me spend the night there and use their facilities to freshen up.

I go to Walmart occasionally in a pair of shorts, T-shirt and flip flops looking like a bum and I’m middle class if not higher at least compared to the average in my county. It’s ridiculous to over generalize.

then complain about it on social media.
I don’t care if they have lower prices. They are not the only option people have. Don’t complain if your shopping because of the price. It’s the price you pay!
I hate Walmart always have and therefore I just don’t shop at a hell hole full of self checkouts!

It made me terribly sad. I don’t have a coat for everyone without one or shoes for people walking on paper thin shoes.
But I know this state is suffering. I know how the hell to vote!

Back in the days, not all that long ago, when we lived paycheck to paycheck, we cared what strangers thought about us. Appearance was everything.

Now that we are debt free, own our home and cars free and clear, have 6 months income in an emergency savings account and are putting serious bux in our 401s, all that on basically the same income as when we were paycheck to paycheck. Now that we are there, we don't give two craps what anyone thinks about us. That includes people that love WalMart or people that hate WalMart. 1st stop Aldi, second stop WalMart, that is our routine.

I bought name brand shampoo this week at Dollar Tree, the same thing costs 3X as much as Walmart and 4X as much at Target. I don't care who is in the store when I'm there all I want is a good value for my money. I don't care what people think about my car, my clothes or my political party. Most of them are broke, not because of their low income rather because of their bad money handling skills.

5 years ago we had a lot of credit card debt (among other debt) our monthly CC interest only amounted to almost $500  But I did drive a nice car.

Here's one: you may think it's depressing having to see poor people when you were forced to go to Walmart. Try living my life - try knowing that you need new pants/shirts and that the ****ing $14 dollar Time and Tru pants at Walmart are too expensive. Try needing new underwear, but the cotton ones are all multipacks and you just can't afford the $8 for a pack of Fruit of the Loom, so you and up buying a single $3 pair. Sure, the multipack is more economically sound, but you can't afford that up front, so you buy the single pair knowing you'll re-wear that a little too much and it'll fall apart by next month. Maybe try having kids who are thankfully healthy and growing, but that growth means new clothes and shoes are needed and that means $$$$$$$. And then add the fact that your kids, especially the teen, are bullied because there are people out there who can tell they are poor just by looking at them. 👀

I'm the same way. I've been debt free for going on 10 years. No wife, no girlfriend, I don't want one, ain't lookin for one.

All I draw is SS and on that am able to make payments on a 2021 Redwood 5th wheel, money to live on, put money in the bank, pay a few other bills (cell, insurance) and live comfortably. My truck is going 19 years old ('05 F350 SD, Harley edition, 6.0L V8 turbo-diesel that is completely paid for) and I'm happy with it.

I run a booth at the local flea market on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and put in maybe 22 hours a week. (It gives me something to do).

I'm amazed at how uncomplicated my life got when I stopped caring what other people think, including friends. I'm now stress-free, drama-free and have the weekends to see people (and get reminded why I don't want anything to do with them), then home for 4 days.

Yup. One of the big mistakes people make, especially when getting tons of overtime OR covid payments is, instead of putting it away and working on a 40 hour paycheck, the OT and covid stuff becomes part of what they live off of. When that crap stops, it's really crunch time.

I'd be willing to bet a lot of people are in hot water now, including a lot of people that go to Walmart, because they got "used to" the extra $$ instead of pretending it didn't exist.
