What they fail to mention is that they weren’t acting in an obscene manner in front of children

Milton Berle and his ilk weren't trying to teach 3- year- olds how to twerk.
Oh, and here's something else I feel the need to remind everybody about:
Drag Queen Story Hours are run with so little accountability or basic concern for children's safety that it has been revealed that at least three of the drag queens who participated in those events were convicted child sex- offenders.
In at least one of those cases, the library hosting the event normally demands full criminal background checks for anyone hoping to hold a program there which would involve interacting with children, but they deliberately waived that requirement for the drag queens, because they knew that if they didn't do so, the drag queens would undoubtedly respond by openly accusing them of bigotry.
If the drag queens want to be more trusted by the public, implementing some personal accountability and demanding criminal background checks for anyone wishing to participate would go a long way.
As it is, if it weren't for the COVID shutdowns cancelling everything, I guarantee that at least one child would have been molested or worse at a Drag Queen Story Hour event by now.
