I've always considered you a reasonable person, but knowing that you have bought into the hateful MAGA view of things has made me wonder. In the hope that you are somehow just not aware of what it is that you are supporting and encouraging by supporting Donald Trump, I am supplying you with some FACTS that you can check out and verify on your own internet device.

You are supporting a man who has already told you over 30,000 lies. Why would you believe anything he tells you?

You are supporting racism---misogyny---religious bigotry---homophobia---just about any form of stereotypical hatred you can imagine. I never considered you to be a mean hateful person.

You are supporting the continued coddling of the mega-corporations and super-rich who pay less in taxes than you do.

You are supporting the Trump party that has openly announced a plan to end Social Security and Medicaid within five years---or less.

You are supporting a person who knew he had verifiably lost reelection, yet raised millions of dollars from folks like you with his bogus ""Stop the Steal" grift.

You are supporting a person who most of this nation considers a TRAITOR who instigated the shameful insurrectionists who invaded and defiled the US Capitol on 1-6-21.

Finally, you are supporting someone whose dishonesty, vulgarity, greed and cruelty defy everything you were taught was good and true and decent.

Is this REALLY the "new you" or are you still the person your parents hoped you'd be?

2. Have had this discussion hundreds of times with the Maga siblings.

What I have found out is:
1) Logic doesn't work.
2) Facts don't matter.
3) They don't care if they screw themselves as long as "the liberals" get screwed.
4) Lies don't disturb them - AT ALL!
5) They say things that I could agree with, but then slide into the flip side.
6) When they don't like what I say, they block me, refuse to talk to me, and lie about me to mutual friends. (I have actually caught them doing this several times.)

At this point it is a waste of my time to discuss anything with them because they have their own spin on things. By limiting my time talking to them I am a happier person. I spend time talking to my nieces and nephews, most of whom are not Maga, thank goodness!

19. Two point they do need to hear the facts. And your 1-6 are all dead on. But something has warped....

... their ability to think independently. Some, maybe not all, but many, IMHO, are just one small paper cup away from Jonestown kool-aide.

I have a relative who always sought out my opinion and input when making life decisions. Now for whatever reason, they seem to think it is me who just can't see with any clarity what Trumpism is doing to them and the country.

In my opinion, it is going to take decades, if ever, for this generation of "Jonestown followers" to avoid the paper cup, hopefully.

This next election will be life-changing.

But I’m not going to bother sending them your excellent points. They are too far down the rabbit hole to be reached.

The bigger problem for these people is that their first step would be to acknowledge they have a problem and need to admit they’ve been wrong.

It takes a very secure, strong or bottomed-out person to make such an intensely personal insight. I don’t think these imbeciles are capable of such strength and/or weakness.

In short, why waste my time? I don’t have any confidence these cultists can be rescued. Frankly, I don’t give a damn about them anymore.

Trump did not lie..its the liberal news media that is lying, taking things out of context and suffering from Trump derangement syndrome.

Trump is not racist.. His daughter is married to a Jew and i see plenty of blacks at his rallies. And its the Democrats who supported slavery.

Less in taxes ? Why do you hate successful people? That is class warfare and envy of the rich ! You dirty commie!.

As to the question of why people believe Trump, the answer is that he's one of the precious few politicians who campaigned on doing certain things and then, lo and behold, he actually did or tried to do those things. The whole 30,000 lies thing comes from media "fact-checkers", who themselves have ben caught in innumerable lies or at least inaccuracies. Why do you trust them? Many of these "fact-checks" consist of "fact-checking" obvious hyperbole, twisting Trump's words, or even "fact-checking" his jokes.
