A humble request for assistance

Hi, Friends.

I'm not sure GD is the appropriate forum for this request. I trust someone will lead me in the correct direction if it is not.

My son and his wife, who live just north of Tampa, have been preparing to move to a new (to them) home. Monday, Feb. 20, they finished packing an enclosed trailer with all their household goods. My son's tools for work (contractor/handyman) were also in the trailer.

While they slept Monday night, anticipating the "big move" the next morning, their packed trailer was stolen. My daughter-in-law is devastated, having lost all her pictures of her kids and dearly departed family members and all manner of keepsakes that cannot be replaced. To make matters worse, my son has no tools with which to perform his job.

They have filed a report with the police, who stated they will look at surveillance footage in the area and attempt to find the perpetrators, but in the meantime my son and his wife are in a hard place and in need of support, both financially and spiritually. I have started a Gofundme account for them. Please help them if you are able.

Thank you, Friends.

Definitely keep an eye on this one. Highly suspect, if you ask me. Is it possible? Sure? Was the trailer not secured to the tow vehicle?

The more I think about this, the more I think its highly unlikely. Let me explain my line of thinking...

Point 1. Assuming the trailer is actually attached to the vehicle, the hitch should be locked. So, either a thief would have to get very lucky and discover its not locked. Or, they have bolt cutters for just such a situation. Im willing to overlook this.

Point 2. The OP says the enclosed trailer was packed full of household goods, and tools. Ok, even if you separate the trailer from the tow vehicle, so what? What are you going to do with it? The tow vehicle would be in the way of being able to back up to the trailer and hooking up. The trailer would be nearly impossible to move, with even a trailer dolly if its loaded down. Ask me how I know that. Trust me.

Point 3. LPC Rookie.  :-)

Most people, when loading a trailer of that nature, have it backed in so they don't have to make a hundred trips across the yard carrying items from dishes to furniture.

It is kind of difficult to steal a trailer off a hitch when backed in that way. Of course, these are DUmmies we're talking about, so who knows.

Does it seem, noting past DU history (we cavers tend to have long and functional memory), that DU fundraisers are on the rise?

That is how it seems to me.

I wonder if the DUmp denizens have noticed, and if if they have, whether they wonder why it's on the uptick.

Now that you mention it, I have noticed a decided trend of the most sycophantic among "us" to not be rising on the tide of this fantastic, spectacular Biden economy as rapidly as their "peers". It's almost as if Dear Leader isn't rewarding their faith as one might expect...

The most sycophantic among "us", yes indeed, who would fight bitterly among themselves, to be first in line to lecture everyone else about voting against their own best interests.

Yes indeed. Im wondering how the trailer was orientated? Was it just out in the street all by itself? If thats the case, then I can see it being stolen. And I wouldnt exactly be shocked.

But, I would assume it would be attached, and backed in. Either a driveway or yard.

Stealing a loaded down trailer, while not impossible, is a difficult task. If this tale is true, either the thief was prepared or damn lucky. I find it hard to believe someone was just driving around with a set of bolt cutters, maybe a trailer jack, a trailer dolly, and then not to mention, a properly sized ball. Unless you stole the receiver as well. Assuming it fit.

Seems to me a move from Tampa to any random blue state paradise without your pots, pans and circular saws would be a cause célèbre in the long run.

Question: was the trailer "stolen" or was it repossessed by the lienholder?

If he is a contractor / handyman doesn’t he have a work truck with his tools in it?

Dummie makes no mention if his dummie son bothered to put a lock on the trailer hitch.
Even where I live out in a rural area we are smart enough to know that there are low life thief's (democrats) roaming the area, so we know well enough to lock our stuff up!

Well now. We have a minor, but interesting update.

1. The GFM has generated $200.

2. There has been an edit to the original story. The OP states they lived just N. of Tampa. After the edit, they live just N. of Miami.

 :devious:

GoFundMe is one of the absolute worst things that have ever happened to the primitives. It clearly demonstrates how little they care compared to how much they claim they care.

I wonder how much each one of them has donated to Ukraine? The way they talk, its has to be on the magnitude of Billions. Im guessing in reality its in the magnitude of 10s of dollar$.
