Holy crap! The hypocrisy is breath taking.
On a side note...
I faintly recall as a young lag, about 5 years of age, going with my mother to pick up our ration of Government Cheese, Peanut Butter, Real Butter, and Crackers. I dont remember if there was any other commodities offered. But I do know one thing, that block of "cheese" made the best damn grilled cheese sammich ever!
I faintly remember our family having to do something like that as well. Not for a long time, but I know there was some government assistance in our lives at some point ... until my dad found out. He put a stop to it, I do remember that.
We were raised very poor, but us kids didn't know it until we got up into high school. I was bound and determined that wouldn't be something I would ever do, and I haven't. Times got really tight sometimes when the wife and I were young, but we did what we had to and now we're blessed beyond what we ever thought we would be.
