My husband may be facing a lay off.

My husband called me on his lunch break (he is working afternoon shift 3 to midnight) and he tells me that they announced a 15-minute meeting will happen tomorrow. Rumor is they will announce layoffs.

Now we are use to my Husband being laid off before Christmas until the new year. His plant makes products they get ready for Christmas then shut down until the new year. Past year and a half they have been getting less and less orders. I am scared they are going to close permanently.

I am also thinking anyone at that meeting is going to be laid off. We never have had this done. There is always a plan. Like we are shutting down December 16th and your be back here Jan 4th.

Any suggestions? Has anyone ever gone thru this. A surprise meeting announced the day before?


Meanwhile, in the Actual Lives of DUmmies, this is happening. I wish I could gloat, but I won't, because there could be innocent children involved, and some of these workers might not be batshit loons like this woman. Even so, you have to contrast this reality with the "victory" laps the DUmmies have been making over their "stunning" midterm victory.

...and if "PA_jen" is a hint that this person lives in PA, well, have no fear! I'm sure Fetterman will ride in on his trusty steed to let rapists and murderers out of prison and eliminate cash bail. That should help. It (like Fetterman himself) is a no-brainer.

Let's see what the DUmmies say, now that they have this renewed mandate to ensure 12-year-old girls have a clear path to having their genitals mutilated:

My advice to PA_jan is this: find a way to change the pigment of your skin, and hack police databases to create a record of violence. My reminiscing in the Chat Box yesterday was without knowing of this DU thread. I've been through 5 layoffs in the past 30 years, plus a, "We are shutting down the division and moving your product group to 500 miles away," move or find a new job choice. BTDT, got a drawerful of T-shirts. I would not wish being laid of on just about anybody below upper manglement.

From PA_jen's post, it sounds like a 3 week plant shutdown over the holidays is normal for her husband's company, but this early event might be an actual staff reduction. [Political] I wonder if, privately, PA_jen has reflected on her comment, "Past year and a half they have been getting less and less orders." For whatever reason, LIEden's economy has not been good for her husband's company. [/Political] I still would not wish a layoff on just about anyone (except manglers who made stupid decisions causing a layoff).

I despise this state for being so stupid as to elect a butt-ugly, communist ogre, and also that dead guy.  I have never liked this state, it gives me the willies just driving through from NY to OH.  Also, they have ridiculous liquor laws and they steal your vote.
