Geraldine Ferraro speaks up about Palin. (UK Times) Unbelievable.
 Advertisements [?]Oh wow.

Sarah Palin is ...."liberated without preaching women’s liberation".......... "cutting across some of the entrenched positions in America’s culture wars." ???

From The Times
September 5, 2008

Geraldine Ferraro accuses media of 'sexist' scrutiny of Sarah Palin.
Geraldine Feraro, the first woman to be nominated for vice-president by major political party, sympathises with Sarah Palin

Tom Baldwin in St Paul

(.....)

In Britain, Ms Ferraro said, there are any number of strong female role models, such as the Queen and Margaret Thatcher. “But here in America, in 200-odd years we’ve only seen white male Presidents and white male vice-presidents. This election will change that, whoever wins.” She became a lightning rod for the cultural flashpoints of gender and race when she was forced to quit Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign this year after saying that Mr Obama would not have got so far if he was white or a woman.

Ms Ferraro remains angry at the “sexist treatment” of Mrs Clinton by the media. “In New Hampshire, someone put up a sign saying ‘Iron My Shirt’. Nobody spoke out. Imagine if Hillary’s supporters had said ‘Shine my shoes’. Everybody would quite rightly have been jumping on it. Women in politics should not be treated better than men, just fairly.”

So would Mrs Palin be facing questions about her newborn baby or how she deals with her pregnant teenage daughter if she was a man? “Definitely not,” replied Ms Ferraro. “Most men get round it by giving that parenting job to their wives.” She also said that the Republican vice-presidential nominee – as an antiabortion conservative, liberated without preaching women’s liberation – was cutting across some of the entrenched positions in America’s culture wars.

Issues such as how a largely liberal media dealt with a Republican woman were, said Ms Ferraro, among those that needed to be studied properly once the election was over.

And btw, she helped Hillary lose this year. I know that sounds bad, but she seems to be supporting McCain. Based on history, that will mean every single campaign she's been connected to since 1984 has lost.

47. How can she not realize that a McCain/Palin victory would mean the slow death of everything
feminism has advocated for over the past forty-plus years?

That sums up the liberal media bias about as well as I've ever seen it summarized.

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf:  Come on, Colonel!  Electing a strong, independent woman for a major political office will HARM feminism!!   :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

This is the reason behind their hatred of her, though.  She is everything a woman "can be," and she is also a conservative, pro-life Christian.  All the freedom and independence of any feminist, without the man-hatred, child-hatred, and overwhelming selfishness of the feminazis.

No, DUmmy, she DOES realize that a McCain/Palin victory will leave the door open for The Beast in 2012. G. Ferraro is purely a surrogate for the Clintons. How these DUmmy pinheads can believe that the Clintons want B. Hussein to win is beyond me. They may think Clinton will support B. Hussein in order to get a Supreme Court seat as a reward. But the USSC is all about ideology, and The Beast is only motivated by power, not ideology. Clintons have never had a moral code or ideology.

Now back to ESPN, and Go Bucks.

So it would be a slow death of everything feminism has advocated if a woman can show the world that she can be in charge of her own destiny by having a healthy and involved family life, be politically active, and be passionate about what she believes in? What planet are you from? Face it, the Dems fear Sarah Palin because she can think on her feet and actually believes what she says (without a teleprompter). When you actually speak of what you actually know and with passion, from the heart, you don't need speechwriters............Reagan had it, so does Sarah.

Apparently Geraldine didn't get the memo that feminism only applies to Democrats.

well thats just the point; Feminism is long dead and was never a good idea to begin with. I think Ferraro has matured and realizes that she sees a woman on a ticket who didnt have a man help her get there. She's just being honest, which will no doubt cost her big time in her own party.

I think Ferrarro  (Who has immpecable feminist credentials, thank you very much, as she is still using her maiden name after umpty years of marriage) still has scars from the news media.  Her husband supposedly had mob connections, it was all whispered around and never proved up or down or sideways.  The guy was a contractor in Jersey, and he didn't know mobsters?!

Ferraro is making the mistake of being a human being first, Democrat second.  Women do get pounded for their relatives errors more than men.   She has legit grievances.  and the remark she got fired for was a very uncomfortable and inconvenient truth.

H5 for the colored analysis.

I have heard this past week that Geraldine Ferraro was going to vote for McCain/Palin.  One of the big motivators was the fact that lefties had savaged Governor Palin so much, and she didn't like that at all.
