Here is a question I have long pondered:
Say for the sake of argument we lose the House and the 1/6 Committee is no longer in existence or whatever the mechanism might be for renewal or reconstitution. What is to prevent the Senate, still hopefully in Democratic hands, from creating a Select Committee a la Watergate? You KNOW that if the situation were reversed, there’d already have been ten Senate committees looking into this.

That would not preclude Shamvestigation 3.0. Constitutional protections against double jeopardy don't forbid multiple Partisan PR Stunts at taxpayer expense regarding the same event.

Who's gonna call for it? Schumer? Some of his members are fighting for their political lives right now and the Senate doesn't roll like the House. The house is like a popularity contest among districts. Senators are elected by an entire state.
