'RIP William Rivers Pitt. Author, Husband, Father, and Friend. Flights of Angels, [View all]
you magnificent bastid.'

Evidently this has been verified, and of course given his propensity to drink himself silly, should not be surprising.

Say hi to Andy for us, Willie.

Mildly disappointed.

I kinda expected that Raven (aka: Pitt's mom) would have typed his final farewell to Skinner's Island of Misfit ****-ups over his bloated, stiff corpse...

Bless life, copulate bad ideas.  The Pittster expressed idiocy, but bless those who loved him in person.

I just got off the phone with Jason Leopold

who clarified something for me that is pretty damned important. In his article, he said:

"During the course of that meeting, Fitzgerald served attorneys for former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove with an indictment charging the embattled White House official with perjury and lying to investigators related to his role in the CIA leak case, and instructed one of the attorneys to tell Rove that he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order, high level sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said Saturday morning."

In point of fact, those 24 hours are "business hours," i.e. starting on Monday.

"Jeez, Jason," I said, "we might want to put that into the essay. Half the planet thought 24 hours was 24 hours. They thought the deal would go down today."

To be fair, a dozen eyes looked at that article yesterday before we published it, mine included, and none of us caught that. The word "business" has been inserted into the story after "hours" where it belongs:

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/051306W.shtml

So. Monday at the very earliest, but more like Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm going to go take a nap and then go get drunk with some friends tonight. Dan's brother Ken, the airline pilot and all-around wild-man, is in town for the weekend. Gonna be the Linwood Cafe, and their Mojo from the nitrogen tap, and then around again to our usual gathering spot.

I'd repeat everything I've said about Jason's multiple independent sources, about how the MSMs failure to pick this up sounds more like more of the same old shit than anything ominous, about how no hard paper or announcements or anything will come until, at a minimum, the government re-opens for business on Monday...but I've written it all already.

The truth will out. It always does.

Later, gators.

Say hello to a bottomless rage

Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 12:56 PM by WilliamPitt

The cork is out of the bottle, and I am putting a few people on notice. You know who you are, you know what you did, and a good man has gone down in no small part because of you.

Throwing sand into the gears of the PayPal donations blew Andy off the surgery rotation, casusing him to have to wait a lot longer for his operation.

Spewing the claim time and again that the whole sickness was a fraud, very publicly and on as many blogs and boards as you could find, robbed Andy of the hope and will he needed to overcome this thing.

I think you ****ers should be forced to dig his grave. I think you should be buried with him.

I kept my mouth shut about you these last weeks because every time I said something about you or to you, you got a stiffy from the attention and ramped up your viciousness again. That's over with now.

I am going to make you famous in all the worst kinds of ways. I know your names, I know your addresses, I know your IP numbers, I have screen shots and copies of every vile statement and threat you ever made. I know everything I need to know. Get ready for the ram.

You are graveyard rats. I am going to grind you under my bootheel, scrape you off with a blade, and feed you to my cat.

One note to my fellow DUers: Leave off attacking the mods and admins at that "other" site. They were as disgusted by this as we were, but were hamstrung by the rules of their board which they take as seriously as the admins and mods here. They allowed me to post the documentary evidence over there, in no small part because they wanted the ugliness to stop. You may disagree with them, but they are good people.

They are not the ones who are on my list of things to do. Those on the list know who they are. Bad days are ahead for them. I promise.

We mourn for the next few days. We sing the songs of our friend.

And then we work.

Ok. Ill admit, Will Pitt was a little before my time. I know the name, and if I understand, he *thought* he was a prolific, hard hitting journalist. When in fact, he was a pompous, ego-inflated drunk. I guess the male version of Nance G.

But who the hell is Andy?

Pitt's heyday was before I came to the Cave (I reg'ed in very late 2009), and I didn't hear of him on the discussion sites I frequented in the mid-2000s. So I didn't experience (if that's the right word, I'm not even half-caffeinated yet) the snarky and snide ill will he belched and hiccoughed into his little corner of the world. Nor did I experience the humor of his breathless predictions falling flat and DUmmies' repeated disappointment and the slow realization by at least some DU-folk that WRP and "Truthout" were a less reliable information source than Bat Boy creator "Weekly World News".

I don't know whether in publishing his falsehoods and political :jerkit:-fantasies WRP was consciously evil, alcohol-fueled delusional, or played by "insiders" feeding him silliness they knew he wanted to believe true. Men like Saul of Tarsus and John Newton are reminders to me, though, that even men doing evil things can be redeemed. Plus or minus monsters like Stalin or Saddam or etc. I can't bring myself to celebrate when someone I believe did evil things dies. To me it means they have slid beyond redemption. I know I may be out of balance in this perspective and realize it, so I'm not really virtue-signalling, and I'm not trying to guilt-trip any who feel differently.

There is a difference between grave-dancing and noting with satisfaction that someone has met exactly the sort of consequences they loudly demanded for others, simply because they had a different viewpoint.

Being curious whether WRP died of something related or unrelated to his lifestyle, I DDGed "William Rivers Pitt obituary". I didn't find an obit, on the first results page at least. I did check his W'pedia bio and found that his death was not noted; W'pedia is usually up to date on significant celebs' and pols' deaths. The bio also has this cautionary note:

Short argument over there as to whether he really did call Obama a "piece of shit used car salesman."  Much denial until proof was shown on how Will was chased away from the DUmp.  Now you cry, you hypocrite DUmmies, you ran him off the road because he dissed your black Jesus.  Rightfully so.

Well... bye.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
