I am bloody giddy as hell..... what a week!
« on: September 05, 2008, 07:22:22 PM »
Still ecstatic over Palin, finished a mission critical project at work, and consumed a Smithwick beer really fast for dinner.....

Oh yea, I committed a grave faux pas when I sent rare yellowfin tuna back to the kitchen for a little more cookin. Who knew it was sushi style?  :evillaugh:

That's when she blew a kiss to McCain's comrade in the POW camp, right?

I have to admit, I am reluctant to give up my position as the Conservative McBabe, but the time has come. God Bless you, Sarah.

This past week has been a political joy!  I am regret (character-wise) I get so much satisfaction from the misery of others, but I'm weak.

Why I do declare!!! It HAS been a good week! :-)

I've got so many bouncies from the office. It would take me a day to post them all.
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.
-------------------------------------------------

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I have one myself.  From today.  But I am reluctant to post it.  People will say, "He gets out of the house so rarely, and yet this happened?  ::) "

I have bouncies too. I work with a ton of liberals and I hide my politics very well. I pretend I am the apolitical undecided voter and oh boy do they put on the hard sell.  :lmao: I asked them to give me one specific reason to vote for Obama.... cricketts done chirped .... actually the topic was quickly changed to lunch.  :rotf:

I hardly ever talk about politics at work.  Though yesterday my good friend asked what I thought of the Palin speech.  She's a conservative, and well everyone knows I lean to the left.  I said a few words, but we didn't engage into a full blown "episode."  Heck, she's the woman I went to Happy Hour with tonight (and pretty much every Friday). We talked a little about politics tonight, about Palin specifically.  *shrug*  No bouncy, just plain talk about our different views.

I think it's so funny how everyone in my office tap dances around being a conservative.  :lmao: I know for a fact that one girl (who is my age) is a conservative because we've known each other for about 5 years and have socialized outside of work. A third lady (who is a vegan, Prius driving moonbat) asked her if she saw Palin's speech. She replies - "Well I'm not a Republican so I didn't watch". Then the vegan, prius driving moonbat actually admits that "Palin did pretty well."  :-)

This was the same lady who just a week before, was gushing over Teh Ooooobama's speech to another guy who is in the office across from mine. They are just dying!! They don't know whether to scratch their watches or wind their butts.  :fuelfire:

I have a very close friend, perhaps my best friend, that pulls the lever for democrats every election.  long story, but it has to do with
the old (and discredited) mindset that says that republicans are "against the working man".

we avoid politics, generally, because we each know what the other thinks . . . but the morning after Sarah's speech, it turned into a
shouting match AT WORK.  he seemed to believe every word of the sordid BS that was leaking out about her, and I went ballistic.

"did you SEE her ****ing speech?  have you got a clue?  I have been a palin fan for MONTHS.  why don't you educate yourself before
you speak from ignorance?"

I wore a "Bush/Cheney 2004" golf shirt on election day for the last election.  4 years before that, I wore a "Bush/Cheney" golf shirt on election day.

I am sure I wore them in between.  while it drew looks, no one messed with me.

I say we post them :-)

SO, I found myself in Garland, Tx today with over an hour to kill.  I decided to have the oil changed in my wife's truck.  I sat in the waiting room with the other consumers who were already talking about politics.

The folks I met, a older black man, an older white woman, a really old white guy, and a young white guy, were not saying anything remarkable.  The black man was an Obama fan.  The white woman wasn't talking too much.  The really old white guy was complaining about politics in general.  The young white guy was loud for McCain.  I sat quiet.

The really old white guy tried to engage me by asking me out of the blue for whom I would vote.  I'm not a rude person, so I said, "Oh, I'm an Obama man.  My bank account is entirely too big and I don't have near-enough government in my life."

My answer received some chuckles and one H5 from the young white guy.

I don't care about that National Enquirer BS.  We had a respectful conversation, but that's that.  I don't care to discuss it much further with anyone really.

I always make it clear that the attempt to convince someone of my point of view is a gesture of respect.  i don't think that they are evil,
but perhaps they just haven't heard all of the things that I have heard.

SO,

I was sitting talking to a few co-workers yesterday, when the subject of Palin came up. The topic switched to her "extreme" pro-life views. Then back to Obama's "pro-choice" views, and then on to abstinence-only education. Somebody asked me if I'm in favor of abstinence education. I said, "Hell no! I give my first-grade daughter condoms every morning before school!"

Thus endeth the conversation.
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Agreed, I have a respect for other's views (which is what's lacking at DU).  When my friend and I talked tonight, I did tell her things she hadn't heard (and not in the moonbatty way) and we both discussed how we think Piper is one of the cutest things ever!

Yeah, I heard someone make a snide remark how Bristol's sex life should be no more private than Bill Clinton's..... Excuse me, but Bill Clinton was the subject of a sexual harassment suit when the Monica Lewinsky story broke. Can people really be that stupid?
