Although I've occasionally discussed the 10+ years during my time living in Chicago and suburbs, I'll post a bit of a refresher since I know the area and the politics of the common folk quite well.
The former Mrs. Wiggum and I lived in Chicago proper, she worked in the city and I alternated between working near the loop but mostly in the burbs. We bought our first home in a middle-to-upper class neighborhood, and the area was definitely a Democrat stronghold. In 2000 and 2004, our aldermanic ward voted over 90% for Algore and then John Kerry. Most of the neighbors weren't unhinged lib-turds, but common sense middle of the road Democrats.
Volunteered to be an Republican election judge a couple of times, and was quickly accepted considering it was incredibly difficult to find a Republican. Hell, I even voted for Mayor Daley twice, only because there were no conservatives running and the only candidates competing against his corrupt-ness were A0C types such as Bobby Rush.
While some of the suburbs are conservative, especially further out places such as Naperville or Aurora, the woke left absolutly controls a lot of the North Shore burbs such as Highland Park, Evanston, Lake Forest, etc. Elite hoity-toity Northwestern or Ivy League grads (or those obscure non-athletic East Coast universities that no one ever hears much of) that imposing their hippie 1960's and now Woke-turd elitist liberalism on the public.
