OK, need you guys to talk me off the ledge here.
I have 3 sisters. We're family. We love each other, have always been there for other, and always will. But I'm the family "radical", and again, always will be. They're fairly conservative, but even that rat bastard Trump couldn't come between us, and only one of them voted for him anyway.

We're in South Carolina on our annual reunion, and just got back from cocktails and tapas at a local watering hole. I told the sister who picked up the tab to let me leave the tip because I always tip in cash instead of putting it on a credit card, because it's better for the server that way. Another sister told me I didn't have the right to complain about people not paying their "fair share" of taxes if I did that.
I looked it up, and SC is one of those states that lets employers pay tipped employees $2.15/hour, PLUS allows them to deduct the credit card fee from the employee. I told her if she didn't understand the difference between a multi-gazillionaire who spends 10's of millions on vanity trips to space (you listening Bezos and Musk?), especially when they could have done the same thing on the "vomit comet", and someone working for tips, I couldn't explain it to her.

I can't say I was "attacked", but there was a degree of condescension in their replies. I didn't KNOW she was only paid $2.15/hour. I asked if they honestly thought any employer would pay an employee more than they were required to by law. They came back with all the employers who are paying over $15/ hour when they don't "have" to. I told them if they wanted quality employees, they damn well did "have" to, because no one could make it on a minimum wage that hadn't been raised in over 10 years. It went back and forth for a while, until I was asked why I was "always so angry" about this stuff. Told them I wasn't angry, but I waited tables for a living once, they never had to, so again, if they didn't understand, I couldn't explain it.

I'm beginning to think there was a screw up at the hospital, and I was switched at birth, but this is NOT the way any of us were raised. I just don't get it.

Not a lot of engagement in the thread, but I thought it was funny as hell anyway

Just wait, Winston.

Wait until eggs are a dollar a piece, hamburger is 10 dollars a pound, milk 10 dollars a gallon, gas 10 dollars a gallon, diesel 12 dollars a gallon, and the shelves are bare.

They'll be fighting each other viciously over who gets to turn the rat loose.

Sleep well, Winston. Sleep lightly.

"Winston Smith"  huh?

Perhaps named himself after the character in Orwell's "1984" novel?

I'm glad I worked in atmospheres where asking for a raise if I thought I deserved one was more importantly, a character-building thing.

Dear DUche DUmbass winstonsmith, please remember it is down the lane and NOT across the road.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
