I have a theory...WHy this SCOTUS leak and why now?

My theory is this. The right knows that beginning on June 9 we will be carpet bombing the GOP with the truth.
The SCOTUS ruling was due in June as well.

The right also knows that this ruling and the demolition of Roe will cause a cultural blow back unseen since the escalation of the Vietnam war in the 60's. So... they leak this opinion, knowing that Democrats will put pressure on the Senate to demolish the filibuster in order to vote to codify ROE into law.

The result: The SCOTUS is off the hook....We tried... blah-blah.
They use the destruction of the filibuster and the circumvention of the SCOTUS ruling to energize their voters for November to throw more Democrats out of office. They regain control of a filibuster free senate.

They take some of the wind out of the turnout sails for the Democrats.
The SCOTUS and the GOP simply wait until after the election to destroy the constitutional rights of everyone they don't agree with.

2. I really don't think people care about this as much as you think they do. nt

3. I think you are pretty close ...

Nothing holds the GOP together like the issue of abortion.

If nothing is done between now and election day, the Republicans will be able to rally their troops with the hope and promise of doing away with Roe v Wade.

Republicans do not know how much damage may be done by the January 6 insurrection and the upcoming hearings?

This may be their election insurance policy?

4. I believe in Occam's razor

If I hear hoof beats I don't imagine zebras are approaching, I imagine it is horses.

Some clerk leaked the draft, this was not purposely leaked.

9. One flaw: the filibuster isn't going to be eliminated by the Democrats.

The votes aren't there to do so.

Moreover, getting Roe overturned now sets things up nicely for the right to push for the election of repubs to the House and Senate who will try to enact a nationwide ban on abortion (and they will get rid of the filibuster themselves to do it) and for the election of state legislators and governors who will push for abortion bans at the state level.

20. People forget about shit. Quickly.

What infuriates people now, in early May, people will be used to in a couple months. They may only be angry when the official opinion comes out in June. When the world hasn't collapsed, people may only be mildly bothered come November.

:rotf: Since June 9th is almost 5 weeks away, the timing for Star Moron FalloutShelter stupidly paranoid guess is wrong, by at least 3 weeks. Were distracting from June 9th the intent, this leak would have been no earlier than 10-14 days before June 9th, so that the coverage wouldn't dissipate by the time June 9th came.

My WAG, for which the timing works well, is that a Lib/Prog Pro-Abort clerk or other staff person leaked this as early as possible so that abortuaries and Pro-Abortion groups have plenty of time to organize riots against this decision's announcement. Needless to say, LIEden's FBI and DHS won't be infiltrating or otherwise interfering with those rioters, and won't be listening in on their planning.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.
