Jan. 6 revelations will 'blow the roof off the House,' Rep. Jamie Raskin says

WASHINGTON — Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., suggested that the House Jan. 6 committee's upcoming hearings will be dramatic and include explosive revelations that the panel has been piecing together behind the scenes for months.

"The hearings will tell a story that will really blow the roof off the House," Raskin said Thursday at an event hosted by Georgetown University's Center on Faith and Justice in Washington.

"No president has ever come close to doing what happened here in terms of trying to organize an inside coup to overthrow an election and bypass the constitutional order," he said. "And then also use a violent insurrection made up of domestic violent extremist groups, white nationalist and racist, fascist groups in order to support the coup."

Raskin said the committee will present "evidence" that proves there was coordination among then-President Donald Trump and his inner circle and his supporters who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6 in an attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

I'm still waiting for the evidence that Trump is a Russian asset...

16. One would hope that stuff that blows the lid off the House will also be an unfathomable exposure of a big slice of the GOP as cheering on the coup. That by itself will be a blow to the GOP's general favorability ratings, especially with independents. And the GOP can't afford to lose a single independent vote. So I'm going to have to err on the side of unconventional wisdom and speculate that the coming mid-terms will be a bloodbath for the GOP and a landslide for the Dems.

5. How Are They Going To Run These Hearings?.....

Are they going to bring people before the committee and put them under oath and question them (televised)?

Or

Are they just going to go through a chronological timeline and tell us the story - complete with footnotes as to how they got that info?

Do we know how these hearings are going to play out?

There will never be 'hearings'. There will be a bunch of TV spots where [D]s claim wild shit- with nothing to back it up.

We are not dealing with Donald Trump or some other fool. Raskin knows what to do, and tells the truth.

The bottom line is this: Trump is the kind of person who is sure he can get away with anything and have no consequences to
himself. That is who Donald Trump is. The committee will prove that ...(in my opinion) ..Trump was behind the whole riot
on Jan 6, and he and his inner circle planned and carried out the insurrection and were sure that they would not be caught.

pay the price of their plot to...."overturn the 2020 presidential election"....Trump is sure that he will get away with it, but
Raskin has been around the show and knows what is going to happen. In my opinion, Donald Trump will pay a price that
he never could even imagine in his worst nightmare. As has been said before, Donald Trump hasn't got a clue!,
....Raskin knows what is to come...and it is not a good ending for Donald Trump and his gang.......

10. So far all the explosive reveals just make the public yawn.

Nothing has hit any fan.
I feel the time for action may have passed and any new reveals will be quickly swamped by right wing fake scandals.
Our justice system is broken when every single high stakes case against conservatives can be thwarted by lawyers who dance around the law forever, never allowing a resolution to any cases.
I don’t think a single major case has been resolved regarding Trump or his minions.

If Jamie Raskin thinks the committee has material that will "blow the roof off the House," I believe him. He knows exactly what they've got, and he's not a drama llama. I have a lot of faith in that man. I think he is stating what he believes to be the facts of the matter, and that's good enough for me.

What happens after that is anyone's guess. I know a lot of people here have less than zero confidence in the DOJ at this point, but if the evidence is as powerful and compelling as Raskin seems to think it will be, surely the DOJ will be under significant pressure to act decisively, once it's all been laid out in public hearings for the country--and the entire world--to see. That's one thing that will be different about this.

I'm not going to be betting any large sums of money on what the DOJ might do, and I'm not g anyone else do so. But I believe these hearings WILL be explosive. Jamie Raskin says so, and he should know.

I will not be surprised when the Jan 6 Committee proves that damn near every Republican in Congress was part of the attempted coup.

Also, when the Committee does blow the top off the Capitol, I predict that most of the population will shrug and go on about whatever it is they are going on about.

I live in a rural VA county that votes 65-70 percent Republican. Our useless Representative could shoot someone on 5th Ave and still be elected - -- as could Trump. I guarantee, if Trump runs in 2024, he will carry my county.

Jan 6 is old news for most of the country.
