On the off chance that there are still some elected Republicans out there who were NOT involved in participating in Trump's attempt to overthrow the US government, nor aiding and abetting said attempt by propagating the Big Lie, now is the time to either come clean or lawyer-up.

yeah... that's one sentence...

In case you missed it, the January 6th committee is compiling evidence on a daily basis. Texts are being unearthed, emails are being scrutinized, witnesses to discussions and events are spilling all they know.

Even Ivanka, Jared, and Guilfoyle have spent hours with the Committee - and if you think any of them have somehow outsmarted their interlocutors by not revealing damning information, you're as dumb as they are - and that's pretty ****in' dumb.

You can rail against the Committee all you want - call it a witch-hunt, label it as a political stunt, dismiss it as a baseless attempt to smear a former "pResident" who remains blameless - despite all evidence to the contrary.

The fact remains that the facts are being uncovered, and they are incontrovertible.

"Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party." And the only aid Republicans can now render to their ailing party is to admit to their crimes, denounce their loyalty to the self-serving Orange Idiot, and pray that they survive the political tsunami that is about to be unleashed.

 :whatever:

... I don't expect anything that remotely resembles a show of integrity, patriotism - or a spine.

4. I have difficulty believing many testifying before the committee have not committed some form of perjury. They thought they could get away with it. They supported it at the time and some of them still do. They're transparent now? I'm skeptical.

5. I share your concerns.

Particularly as to Jared and Ivanka. They’ve seen no repercussions for anyone who has lied, and that makes me think they just said whatever they could make up at the moment - like they usually have done.

No confidence.

6. Stop already, nothing will happen, even Gaetz was never charged.

How long are we going to go down this same hole? Waiting for some magic justice is a waste of time. They told us Gaetz, a pretty low level guy, was done when his buddy got a sweet plea deal. No way he got a deal unless the indictment of a big fish was soon to follow. Nothing.

All these people are simply doing the smart thing, voluntarily going to the committee, answering a few benign questions, saying I don't recall a bunch. Its a bunch of nothing to stall until the midterms. Repugs take the House and it just switches to investigating Hunter Biden. And every right winger will be typing this same type of stuff...'any day now the entire Dem criminal organization will be arrested'.

They thought any day Hillary would be arrested, we think any day Gaetz or 1-6 higher ups will be arrested. It NEVER happens. Wash, rinse, repeat.

We are in big trouble. Inflation, crime, nonsense about lefties running schools are all swing voters care about. The 1-6 committee could hold 1000000 public hearings starting today and not one dang swing voter would care.

We need to stop making ourselves feel better with this false hope.

We need to fight the Repug messaging on crime, inflation, education because that what will determine if Dems lose both the House and the Senate. This could be a historic loss of seats unless the tide turns.

7. And your brilliant solution is? n/t

10. My solution is for the elected political leaders to do their jobs.

Why is it up to citizens to solve this? We elected these representatives based on campaign promises they made. Why is it OUR problem to figure out what THEY are supposed to do?

Do their jobs. Hold these criminals accountable. What punishment has Mark Meadows been served? Steve Bannon? Donald Trump? The only one who has been punished in any way is Michael Cohen and he’s the one cooperating.

Enough already with the “what’s your solution” distraction. This is a constant on DU.

We need action. Not distraction. What is your solution for that?

11. The difference between the Republicans investigations and the Dems investigations is that ACTUAL crimes took place on Jan 6 and we ALL witnessed it. We all know the threat posed to our democracy if Jan 6 goes unaccounted for. The American people who choose to ignore the extent of the crimes committed in the planning and execution of Jan 6 insurrection attempt, then THOSE Americans deserve to live under the kind of strong man regime they so stupidly believe they want to live under. In the meantime, the rest of us fight for democracy. If WE give up before the battle even begins, we also deserve to lose our democracy.

9. No one can predict the outcome of this, but I am dying to know what the committee has uncovered. Does the stuff that's been in the news encompass a large portion of what they know or is it a small portion? Some on the committee think there's enough evidence to sink them all. Are they saying that to scare them? To bluff? Do they really have the goods? Is it enough to get Garland to do something?

12. I suspect that after Joe Biden took office, the Repubs knew the gig was up and they might as well go for broke. That's why the accusations and threats against Democrats became wilder, the extreme right reach became bolder and more outrageous with every passing day. They know it's now or never to take it over. Let's not help them. Let's keep holding our elected officials to account to uncover and punish every crime that contributed to the assault on our Democracy on Jan 6.

14. I think you're right...

...about them going for broke.

It's the way I see all these bigoted laws against teaching all of American history, the anti-LGBT laws, etc. They feel progress and the changing demographics of America breathing down the backs of their necks and are scared shitless that America will stop being a white male dominated country. They feel that allowing others to have the same rights they have somehow diminishes theirs, and they are scared shitless. So they go for broke and are desperately trying to force this country backwards into some white male dominated theocracy.

It's also a backlash against the Obama years. There's always a backlash.

In the same manner, they are desperate to hang on to whatever perceived power they think they have and can't admit they no longer have it. So they're going to destroy democracy in the process of trying frantically to be relevant. It's pathetic. Or, it would be pathetic if it wasn't so dangerous.

I've noticed a pattern with democrats; it's never "We need to fix these issues", it's "We need to counter republican messaging".

You can counter republican messaging on crime, inflation, and education by not being shitty on those topics.

Like the fact that in Brandon's first year murder went up by 30%?  How do you plan on countering that?  :banghead:

On the off chance that there are elected democrats that are not pedophiles and groomers... nah they all are.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

  • (D)Ummie nightmare.
The wife and I were just talking about this thread, and the quasi-lucid reply from the one particular DUmmy.

I pointed out to her a sad truth about DUmmies:

Even when they realize that they're in deep trouble,  in what passes for their stunted little minds,  what their policies have done is never the problem.

What someone or someones at large are saying about what their policies have done is the problem.

Facts like how this violent, lawless "mob" came together to overthrow the government were unarmed. Kinda pees on your parade all by itself. Don't you think?

Yes, indeed.  Waste your time and money, and get laughed at in your face!

Apparently, Dem operative James Carvile commented in a Vox interview how frustrated he is that so many Dem donors waste their $$ by donating $$ to Dem candidates who have a snowball-in-an-infernal-volcano's chance of winning. Those Dem donors choose to whom they donate based on how much they hate the particular R incumbent rather than the possibility of the Dem candidate winning. Hot Air's Allahpundit comments on it here, https://hotair.com/allahpundit/2022/04/18/democratic-donors-are-flushing-their-money-down-the-toilet-on-no-shot-candidates-again-n463153 . It's the sort of article brooklynite would post and for which he'd collect multiple Post Reports.
