The media IS rooting against Biden, from daily newsletter of Heather Cox Richardson

https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/april-11-2022?s=r&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Last week, we lost a crucially important voice in the media when media reporter Eric Boehlert died unexpectedly. In his last column for his publication Press Run, titled “Why is the press rooting against Biden?,” Boehlert wrote that there is such a “glaring disconnect between reality and how the press depicts White House accomplishments” that it seems the press is “determined to keep Biden pinned down.”

Boehlert pointed to the extraordinary poll showing that only 28% of Americans know the country has been gaining jobs in the last year—7 million jobs, in fact—while 37% think the country has lost jobs. Under Biden, the U.S. has added more than 400,000 jobs a month for 11 months, the longest period of job growth since at least 1939. And yet, Boehlert pointed out, on the day the latest job report was released, cable news used the word “inflation” as many times as “jobs.” On Sunday, NBC’s “Meet the Press” ignored the economy and instead featured conversations about two problems for the Democrats in the midterms: immigration and Trump.

It is no secret that we are in a battle between democracy and authoritarianism in America and around the world. It seems to me that the Biden administration is seeking to weaken the ties of misguided voters to authoritarianism by proving that a democratic government can answer the needs of ordinary Americans. The administration appears to be taking the position that focusing on the latest outrage from the right wing locks the country into their view of the world: you are either for Trump or against him. Instead, the administration seems to be trying to demonstrate its own worldview, but with the press glued to Trump and the Republicans, the administration is having a hard time getting traction.

The White House has taken on the idea that the Democrats are unpopular in rural areas. On March 31, the Department of the Interior announced a $420 million investment in clean water in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota. Today, the president announced a $440 million commitment to an “America the Beautiful Challenge” to attract up to $1 billion in private and philanthropic donations to conserve land, water, and wildlife across the country.

Is the employment rate the same today as in 1980?

Even though the overall employment rate is currently the same as in 1980, there are some sharp differences across age groups. Younger workers are much less likely to be working today than they were in 1980, and older workers are laboring on more. Most of this turnaround has happened this century.

The labor force participation rate, at 62.4 percent, changed little in March. The employmentpopulation ratio increased by 0.2 percentage point to 60.1 percent. Both measures remain below their
February 2020 values (63.4 percent and 61.2 percent, respectively).

The number of persons not in the labor force who currently want a job increased by 382,000
to 5.7 million in March
, following a decrease of a similar magnitude in the prior month. This measure is
above its February 2020 level of 5.0 million. These individuals were not counted as unemployed
because they were not actively looking for work during the 4 weeks preceding the survey or were
unavailable to take a job. (See table A-1.)

16. It is rather

disappointing that they are behaving the way that they are.
They insist on highlighting everything bad and ignoring the good. My assumption is that since the loss of their cash cow in the last election, they are having to drum up new outrage to keep viewers interested.
They are going to screw around and wind up costing us all in the mid-terms if they don't knock it off.

Rooting against Biden? No.

Distancing themselves seeing what’s ahead? Yes.

And of course, this is the same media who was cheering the same policies that have given us high gas prices, high inflation, and have embolden Russia and China, among other things. They’re going to try to get themselves off the hook, but that ain’t gonna happen either.

I'll show you the disconnect: Your party has already mastered effective  use of the media, including working with them directly and not even trying to hide it. Now some people are seeing through it.

Water for farmers who wont have reasonably priced fertilizer soon, if any at all, and who can't afford to run their implements.

And there you have it: Evidence that there is no limit to the depth of stupidity, in the form of stupidity on such a scale as not to be quantifiable.

Sadly, that kind of stupid does not preclude breeding.

Yeah, how dare Trump have two scoops.  :rotf:

Besides that, owning cankles clinton in debates and in an election isn't a crime.

You have it backwards, DUmbass. YOU people can't seem to see past your subways and your electric cars. People who don't pretend that current events erase past events know it, too, and I think they would like to thank you properly this fall, for it.

I’ve noticed something about DU over the years.

There’s certain primitives you note over time, and when you read their nonsense you know they’re as stupid as the other primitives. But because of the ones at the site who are sucking up all the oxygen, you don’t place as much emphasis on the others.

But then some of those who have been elbowing the others to the sidelines either die, or they burn out, or they get suspended, or they just go away, and the other lesser primitives take their place. The Botany primitive is in that category.

I mean, how dumb do you have to be to view Cap’n Dementia as “the best president of my lifetime”? That’s a level of stupid that’s hard to compretend. This dolt has been smoking his plants instead of watering them.

Botany is probably some enviro-Nazi who loved that Cap’n Dementia said he wanted to rid the world of fossil fuels. There’s no thought of what would happen if you try and force it to take place and how much it would hurt the poor.

But you never know which primitive will last long enough to make it to the new “top of the stupid” list, or how long they’ll last until they fade away and the next brood of vipers steps in.

The OP is missing the whole point of journalism. The media (news media) should never be rooting for or against anyone. They should be reporting the news in an unbiased fashion and letting the viewers interpret what it means to them.
