Medical marijuana does not help with anxiety, depression, study says.
LOS ANGELES - A recent study found that medical marijuana fails to improve symptoms of pain, anxiety and depression and effectively doubles the risk of developing addictive symptoms and cannabis use disorder (CUD).

The study, published by researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital on March 18, also noted that up to one in five users of cannabis may develop CUD.

"There have been many claims about the benefits of medical marijuana for treating pain, insomnia, anxiety and depression, without sound scientific evidence to support them," said Professor Jodi Gilman in a news release.

At least 1.4 million Americans are using marijuana for their health, according to an Associated Press analysis of states that track medical marijuana patients.

And while marijuana has been shown to help ease pain and a few other health problems, two-thirds of U.S. states have decided pot should be legal to treat many other conditions with little scientific backing.

where the cannabis came from
The terpinoid profile.

Depressed folks should usually stay away from most Indicas
anxiety and folks with panic disorder should stay away from most Sativas

Linalool is a terpene that typically aligns with the qualities of lavender (relaxation, calming)
Many citrus terpenes align with uplifting qualities and folks with anxiety and panic disorders should
abstain from that terpene profile.

Now many strains are a hybrid of both.

Rule of thumb start low dose, go slow- try diffferent strains

Commenting before reading DU-folks' whines, "Medical Marijuana" was an obvious Trojan Horse to anyone cynical enough to see it. The real goal was nothing medical. The real goal was to complicate enforcement of drug laws into non-enforcement.

Being the cynical asshole I am, I knew there had to be lists of plenteous Doctors FeelGood willing to issue "Medical Marijuana" cards for a simple fee. I DDGed list of doctors who issue medical marijuana cards, https://duckduckgo.com/?q=list+of+doctors+who+issue+medical+marijuana+cards&t=vivaldi&ia=web . The top results:

For 20 years, the DUmmies have been on the bandwagon of "legalize it and tax it".  Now that legalized weed for recreational purposes is quite common, they're still not happy.

(For full disclosure, I did inhale more than a few times and enjoyed it. But there's a time and place for everything and that's called college.)

They demanded it be legalized and taxed, so the government would have more money. They swore that legalizing it would end all cartel violence, since there would be no market for Mexican weed in the US once it was legalized.

In true DUmmy fashion, they were wrong, and the black market is stronger than ever because more people want weed but no one wants to pay exorbitant taxes. Always wrong. DUmmies are ALWAYS wrong.

Exactly.  Nobody wants NY government weed, it's too expensive.  Everybody just continues to get their weed from their regular supplier as always.    If you go to an Indian Reservation, every other establishment is a "Dispensary." (Tax free).  It's really rather gross.  The Indian population has been fighting a battle against drugs and alcohol since the white man showed up, and now look at what they're doing.

There is no greater group of bullshitters in the world than indian tribes. Still, you have to admire them for selling people what they want: expensive payday loans, tax-free smokes and liquor, and now weed. I wish we didn't still subsidize them.

The DUmp responses match the ones I get from my middle school pot heads when I tell them studies show it affects their developing brains negatively.  They really believe saying "nu-uh" negates actual studies.

No, my man. We were assured that legalize and tax was a win/win/win and the cartels would join hands, sing Kumbaya, and start selling empanadas and dream catchers and shit. This would happen because EVERYONE wanted weed and they were just being held back by square-assed uncool GOVERNMENT, MANNNNNN. People were DYING to buy Government Weed. We were assured of that.

You forget that the sole reason they hope this is because they all look like chronic heroin abusers with the trail of needle tracks from all the earlier booster shots they received.

Based on a few of my college friends who are still partaking with the :stoner:, it affected their brains then and has progressively worsened over the years.

Me thinks a lot of DUmmies could use an AA/NA group or intervention.  Hell, I'd pay money to see a DUmmy on that TV show "Intervention".  Perhaps a pay-per-view event?
