I got sooo pissed off today
I swear walmart profiles the people they choose as they are leaving the store to check their receipts.
I got my stuff like everyone else walked over to a cashier to pay for my shit,I headed to the door.
They stopped me again and they hit me up for my receipt.
This time out of many times I have been stopped by the same ****ing guy I couldn't find it. Emptied my bags my pockets looking for it .I told him to check with the cashier over there(pointing at him) I think I wasn't given a receipt.
They see me there at least once every week sometimes more because I dont drive and they know this because I shoot the shit with the workers there. hell I knew the guy who asked for my receipt.
All these other"normal" looking people are just walking on by sashaying out the door. I have NEVER seen joe q conservative style ever standing by the door looking for a receipt.All the times I have been there. Saw a goth lady my age with her kids, fishing out her reciept however.
The people working there know how I look.
Still they ask me every other visit for my ******* reciept.
He let me go after he talked to the cashier.
I was irritated but not pissed..yet.
I decided to go out the side door because my bags were heavy and I was carrying a mop.
It would save me considerable distance in the heat with awkward heavy bags wrestling with a mop pole walking home.
I asked him would it be ok if I go out the side entrance,he said yeah go ahead you shouldn't have any problem.
I proceeded to walk out the side entrance and again at the door I was asked for the receipt.
I was pissed off at this point. I didnt have a damn receipt because after that exchange up front they didnt bother to give it to me. The cashier handed the reciept to the guy who was asking me for it.
I was pissed off now. I told her I dont have a damn reciept because the guy at the front door has it.
She insisted I look for it.
Opened my first bag and stopped said loudly this is bullshit.
I come in here every godamn week and you choose to check my ass for my ****ing reciept like every other ****ing time I come here.Why me?
Why do I always get picked for this bullshit for?
This feels an awful lot like walmart has some shitty policy of profiling certain people based on appearance.
Yeah my jacket looks scaaary but it has my ****ing name on the back of it with a panther head on it for ****s sake!
Yall can read it every time I am here . Yall even complimented me on it!

I walked home ranting to the empty sidewalk.
When I got home Othello noticed something was going on and jumped on the counter with that concerned look. I put down my stuff and snatched him off the counter to hug him. I so love him.
Next time they pull this shit ,the county has a law against discriminating against people for how they look,I'll tell them all about it.
Maybe I will finally get to walk out the door unmolested. Damn.🖕

And can't afford it.
I can't do either.
Walmart is walking distance from my apartment.
Target is too but the same things at target often cost more.
SSI does not pay much.
You are under the poverty line just because you are disabled and not considered equal to able bodied americans or "sane" ones..you get to be poor as dirt and get to watch every ****ing penny like its your last one..
I do go to target for the frozen vegetables,and a few other things.

5. I'm pretty non-threatening and non-descript
and I've been asked to show a receipt at Walmart. It hasn't happened since before COVID however.
When I was asked, I showed the receipt and asked why they were checking. They said it was only for large unbagged items in the cart.
I'm not saying they weren't profiling you - but its possible that it depends on what they see in the cart.

I have to shop there. I live on ssi,cant drive,even if I did I cannot afford a car.
Since I walk everywhere and when I shop I sometimes have heavy bags. So I want to keep carrying heavy bags at a minimum.

Being on ssi,you realize wal mart is what you can afford.
If I had more money maybe I could learn to drive, have a car,pay for the therapies that I need the state considers too expensive( like I have ptsd and the therapist I get has no trauma experince.) However I have tried to find one and they don't accept medicaid.
And maybe I wouldn't have to shop at walmart.
It kinda pisses me off when people say glibly thats why I dont shop there.
Well we all dont have that ability in this world.
I have gotten that damn comment twice.in 1 thread.

The simple solution for UGP is to find another place to shop, a place that appreciates having her business.

Anyway, when I shop at WM, I always keep my receipt in hand and hand it to the checker as I approach them, life is too short to be pissed off at a WM employee just doing his/her/it's job.

But on the other hand it seems for many of the DUmmies the most interesting thing they do all week is riding the isles at WM to get some foodstuffs, thus providing the raw material to write urgent messages on their stupid chit-chat board.

Get a freaking cart.  They cost $25.  On one of my gigs, the supermarket was 2 blocks away.  So I got one of those wheeled cart thingies and I was able to carry all the stuff I needed with no problem.

There are also backpacks EVERYWHERE. For literally $1.  At Walmart.

And you complain about poverty?  People in the USA do not know poverty.  I assure you, poverty stricken people throughout the world do NOT HAVE HE INTERNET TO BITCH WITH.  Many/most count time between meals with a CALANDER.

Since stores' insurance companies require the stores not interfere with shoplifters, UGP wasn't being "profiled" as anything. More likely, the store has a policy of random receipt checking. ASSuming this -tale actually happened, of course. There are two reasons I suspect it is as least partially fictional:

1. UGP is POed by the occasional  receipt checks, yet keeps going back to that Walmart;

2. UGP knows her receipts are frequently checked, yet didn't keep it in hand when she headed for the door.

Has UGP ever shopped at Costco? Where everybody's receipt gets checked off, with each item counted?

Since an argument could be made that the American middle class is looking at the real possibility of another great depression, I have started to do some reading on the depression and have noticed it is rare to find pictures from that era and even extending into the WW2 era of people that are fat. Exceptions of course but most depression era people in photographs are skinny.

     By this we both mean that people were engaged in the act of survival rather than in the act of imagining grievances, and demanding redress for those, sometimes on behalf of complete strangers. The culture has evolved in a way that smart people are smarter than ever, but dumb people are FAR dumber than ever. Interestingly, a good many of those dumb people didn't NEED to be dumb...they just choose to be dumb by living their lives online, and somehow these people imagine themselves to be not only smart, but "genius." Food stamps were just that funny looking money that people in line noticed so there was a stigma attached and you did what it took to not be on food stamps.  Now it is an average looking credit card good at any casino or bail bond facility.

I'll be honest, it pisses me off to no end. You require me to check my own shit out, then want me to show proof that I paid for it. They ask people who stand in the long ass lines to show it as well. I RARELY go to Wal-Mart and prefer independents, but that's JMO.

As for this psychopath, on SSI and probably never worked a day in it's life and probably SSDI IMO, wouldn't you like to have a taxpayer off-switch? IMO, it fits the profile of a thief.
