I think it is just an identifier. I've seen some Russian equipment with a "V" on them. I think Z is for the Northern Force and V for the southern. The Russians probably though the two groups would meet up in a few days and they would need identifiers so they don't engage each other.

Other than having straight lines, the resemblance is slightly less than slight. I wouldn't think there could enough :stoner: -haze to inspire this kind of DU-silliness, but being too kind is among my greater faults, :-) .

The Ukrainian Azov battalion literally has what looks like a weirdly compressed swastika as its symbol.
