Slo Joe wants to try and make hay of there being 9,000 leases the oil companies aren’t even drilling on. Of course, this falls flat on its face upon the reality of the gov’t placing regulations to keep them from drilling. Leasing is not the same as being permitted to extract the oil.

They’re desperately grabbing at thin air hoping the MSM can convince the public it’s the oil companies at fault, when the facts say that Biden placed a moratorium to appease the global warming whackos (pardon the redundancy).

In the meanwhile, gas prices are far above $2 and food prices are soaring. That’s what means something to the voting public. That’s why Dems are scrambling for any ray of sunshine they think they see, only to find it was all another mirage.

New Orleans — The Biden administration's suspension of new oil and gas leases on federal land and water was blocked Tuesday by a federal judge in Louisiana who ordered that plans continue for lease sales that were delayed for the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska waters "and all eligible onshore properties."

The decision is a blow to President Biden's efforts to rapidly transition the nation away from fossil fuels and thereby stave off the worst effects of climate change, including catastrophic droughts, floods and wildfires.

U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty's ruling came in a lawsuit filed in March by Louisiana Republican Attorney General Jeff Landry and officials in 12 other states. Doughty said his ruling applies nationwide. It grants a preliminary injunction - technically a halt to the suspension pending further arguments on the merits of the case.

"The omission of any rational explanation in cancelling the lease sales, and in enacting the Pause, results in this Court ruling that Plaintiff States also have a substantial likelihood of success on the merits of this claim," he wrote.

(CNN) — A federal judge on Thursday invalidated a massive oil and gas lease sale for 80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico after a coalition of environmental groups sued the Biden administration to stop it.

The ruling cancels 1.7 million acres of oil and gas leases from that sale, according to data from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.

The administration tried in its first days in office to put a stop to new oil and gas drilling. On January 27, 2021, Biden signed an executive order that paused new permits and directed the Department of the Interior to launch a "rigorous review" of existing programs related to fossil fuel development.

But a lawsuit filed in March on behalf of 13 states led to a judgment from a federal court in Louisiana that blocked Biden's pause and the sale went forward in November. At the time, administration officials openly admitted that the sale was at odds with its climate goals and said its hands were tied.

In the Thursday ruling, Rudolph Contreras, a US District Court judge for the District of Columbia, said the lease sale was invalid because the Department of Interior's analysis did not fully take into account the climate impacts of the leases.

The judge in this case (Contreras) is an Obama nominee so maybe he figured he had to back Joe.  His rationale doesn't seem to be based on a defensible judicial theory, so I expect his decision to be tossed out, eventually.  Meanwhile, gas prices rise higher and higher, while oil companies are forced to fight the White House every step of the way to produce fuel for the US public.  But Jen Psaki lying and denying the White House has hindered domestic oil production is more than enough for the DUmmies.  Rising fuel prices have got to be someone else's fault.  They'll bring up all the factors that control the global price of crude oil, but can't acknowledge that the US has a big role in controlling those factors.

IMO, the increase from the last week of November through the first week of January has a seasonal demand element - = holiday travel and station staffing during holidays - but the price kept climbing and climbing and ... (Brandon did that!). Contrary to LIEden's and Phoning-It-In-Psaki's lie, gas prices started rising well over a year before Russia invaded Ukraine.
