Personally, I Have No Fear of Nuclear War, But...

I am 76 years old. A nuclear war might shorten or end my life. That's of little consequence to me, frankly. I live in a place likely to be part of a targeted area. I don't worry about that, although I'd rather live out my life, however long that will be.

However, nuclear war is not about me. I have four nieces and nephews. I have 12 great nieces and nephews. I have many friends, with offspring and relatives scattered all over the globe. Most do not live in targeted areas. I do worry about a nuclear war affecting their lives. The aftermath of a global nuclear conflict would be a horrific thing in uncountable ways for them.

So, if a nuclear war can be prevented, I hope it will be prevented. Conventional wars are horrifying, in their own way, but do not have massive global impact. It is a good thing to try to keep them limited and work toward a peaceful end to them. It is a very worthwhile thing to do.

So, you might be like me, and have no concern about your own life should there be a nuclear war. I would hope, however, that you do have concern about the lives of others, including your own relatives and people like them who you don't even know. Such concerns come from being human and thinking beyond oneself.

He wasn't worried about his nieces and nephews etc., when he voted for Biden.

Anyone else notice that since Brandon was installed into office we are now talking about nuclear war after multiple decades of it not being a concern?

Along with gas and food prices I feel like we are back to the 70's again with constant nuclear war talk.
WTF.

democrats are a suicide cult and they are going to take everyone with them.

There is something so self-loathing about Democrats that they demand to live in misery and they call misery "good times" as long as their idols are happy. 0bama, for example, has at least three mansions spread across the country while they grouse that high food prices will lose the midterms for them (translation: "X Might lose us the midterms" really means "I am personally, negatively affected by X"). The Clintons have grifted millions for their "Global Initiative" and are now seeking more. The only reason we don't see abject PAIN expressed on DU is that (a) they know they'd be banned if they said anything, and (b) most of them are old and living on someone else's largesse anyway.

I can see the “Biden prevented a nuclear war” bumper stickers being printed up now.

Of course with gas being $10 gallon, there won’t be a lot of people out on the road to read them. Not that it would convince any reasonable person that he’s done anything worth while.

NJCher was over there saying that since she "doesn't really go anywhere," gas prices do not affect her.

Yep whoever had nuclear war and $6 gas in less than 14 months under the Biden junta, please come to the window and collect your money.

The scary thing is what are they going to do to get these failures off the front pages?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
