Older DUers: this is feeling like the 70's all over again

Convoys
Expensive gas
Inflation
Rising interest rates
Post war
Post Watergate
A well-meaning President roadblocked by a political minority
Conservative backlash after the Great Society
Evangelism on the rise
Cold War with Russia
Immigrant blaming

History repeats itself…breaker, breaker add the internet to the 70s and here we are.

Remember what happened in 1980?

3. Had this discussion with my dad, he said the difference is that there is more raw hatred now

He's worried about full blown civil war

25. THIS, so much this...

Spot on, mopinko.

My head is spinning at how they have successfully fooled the people into fighting each other, rather than fighting them.

As long as they control the message, it will be hard to ever gain the upper hand.

The M$M needs to be broken up again...and ripped from their bloody hands.

8. The return of stagflation driven by energy prices

Imports of commodities and goods denominated in dollars will drive inflation.

The US economy is less competitive with other countries who will be able to pay higher prices for raw materials and manufactured goods.

17. Yes

And it is hard not to follow that thread into the future and wonder what the Reagan 2.0 will look like.

Much like Carter, Biden is a good man that is in danger of being overrun by worldwide circumstances that are not within the control of any President.

30. Biden seems more like Ford

Both had long Congressional experience, no executive experience.

Ford pardoned Nixon; Biden has gone easy on Trump.

South Vietnam collapsed; Afghanistan collapsed.

Inflation started following the '73 oil crisis.

Swine flue pandemic.

Moderate at odds with the more radical wing of the party.

:rotf: Throw in the 60s, and how many "Older DUers" are lucid enough to recognize that they are The Establishment, The Man, targeted by protests.

On the side, Carter's more recently expressed, very public, antisemitism has me wondering about how good his intentions actually were, but even assuming they were "good", his wrong-headed policies and ineptitude defeated any good intentions he might have had.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

and that every white person is actively oppressive every non-white person.  No fooling people into fighting each other there.

And whose hands is the MSM in again?  None so blind as those who refuse to see.

I see they continue with the "against their own best interests" B.S..
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
