Traffic has ground to a halt at the busiest border crossing in North America, as Canadian truckers and others angry with vaccine mandates spread their protest beyond Ottawa.

Trucks started blocking the Ambassador Bridge linking the cities of Detroit and Windsor late on Monday, closing down traffic in both directions. On Tuesday, entry to Canada remained blocked while US-bound traffic slowed to a crawl. Each day, 8,000 trucks normally cross the bridge, which handles about 27% of trade between Canada and the US. Protesters also targeted another major border crossing in Coutts, Alberta.

Canada’s capital city remained blockaded by hundreds of vehicles from the “freedom convoy” while protest organizers called for a meeting with all federal political leaders – except the prime minister, Justin Trudeau – to find a “peaceful resolution” to the crisis.

Ottawa police said on Tuesday that 23 arrests had been made in relation to the “unlawful demonstrations”.

6. This has gotten completely out of hand and cannot be just...

a few pissed truck drivers. Big power is behind this, and it's about time somebody found out.

Huge trucks are stopped, and they should be carrying cargo. Are the cargo and truck owners complaining about lost revenue?

Are the sellers or receivers of cargo complaining?

Towing a big rig is not easy, but are at least more drivers arrested? Are there backup drivers available to move the trucks out of the way?

How many of these protesters are Canadian anyway?

I thought I read that they had financial backers outside of Canada.

Now let me point something out here.  BigmanPigman is seemingly having a problem with the fact there is some money coming from outside sources to help the truckers.  This woman, who is on disability from teaching because she's a nut case, is the one who advocates for everyone to get on Zillow, find a home for sale, or just an address, in a District in other states to call to complain as a 'constituent' of a Republican congressman (or senator) so they can influence ideas in states other than her own.

BigmanPigman, turnabout is absolutely fair play.  You advocate for meddling in politics in other areas of our country with phone calls and 'foreign' money, why do you have a problem with this?  I'll also bet you were/are 100% behind the BLM folks and Antifa blocking roads to "draw attention to their plight."

Yeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh ... but for their normal sympathy for their fellow truckers making it unnecessary, truckers who have been vaccinated would remind themselves that sharing the road for years and decades with fellow truckers they screwed over may be years and decades of unpleasantness.

I live in DC and get stuck in traffic during protests all the time. Yeah, it's annoying as hell. I still support the cause and their right to protest and fight the good fight.

What a difference a few years makes.  Now they want demonstrators to have their trucks destroyed, they want massive fines and jail time, they want any children there to be rounded up and removed from their parents, they want the truckers to lose their driver's and business licenses, they are calling for the military to come in and remove all the truckers by force and they don't mind the idea of using deadly force.  I wonder if the next BLM protest in America where roads are blocked will be cheered on by the DUmmies or will they be in favor of removing the protesters using any means necessary.

Years wouldn't matter.  The trucker convoy could have been going at the same time and their doublethink/cognitive dissonance would have just kicked into overdrive
