Let's brainstorm a bit about certifying the Electoral count

The fact that 3 different people in TFG's camp authored plans to thwart the Electoral count certainly gives impetus to Congress (via the Jan 6 committee) to pass legislation to protect it. (Ironic... one of the legal arguments against the 1/6 subpoenas is that the committee is not legitimate because it serves no legislative purpose.)

So, what sort of protections should be encoded into law to protect the count? Should there NEVER be a way to challenge the electors from any given state? If there are exceptions, what are they? Does the state play a role, or do we leave this entirely up to the U.S. Congress? If the state DOES play a role, how do we insure that (a) small minority electoral board(s) doesn't completely erase the result of a legitimate election?

I'm most often a "never say never" kind of person, but I honestly can't think of a scenario where the electors should be challenged after the state certifies them. But that doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't such a scenario. (It also doesn't mean that there is one.)

Anyone have any ideas?

1. The problem is the "gerrymandering".

Would "electors" be elected to the Electoral College by Districts or by popular vote?

If push came to shove, then Democrats would probably support the "popular vote" over the votes of legislative "Districts". It is somewhat of a balance with the "gerrymandering" problem.

3. The Electoral College has too many loopholes,

Congress should try to tighten up the language but we have people on the SC who have the opinion of the absolute right of states to run their own elections.

Forget about eliminating the Electoral College which would be the best choice; not going to get 2/3 Congress nor 2/3 of state Houses to vote it out. We are stuck with an ancient, terrible, election law stuck in the Constitution.

Exactly. These states that allow non-citizens to register and vote in any public elections should lose all seats in congress immediately.

From the morans that brought us:

“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

And that is exactly why the founders put it there, because of treacherous evil bastards who are willing to manipulate the system against the people.

False premise, meaningless conclusions.
